Barcelona, 27th January 2023. – Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona (CZFB) has just announced that the 18th edition of the European Conference & European Research Seminar –organized annually by CSCMP– will be taking place on the 8th and 9th of June at SIL 2023. CZFB is the entity in charge of organizing the SIL (Salón Intenacional de la Logística de Barcelona) –a reference exhibition in terms of Logistics, Transport, Intralogistics and Supply Chain–, as well as the CSCMP (Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals), the largest international entity within the supply-chain industry.

The collaboration agreement has been signed this morning in Barcelona in the presence of Miquel Serracanta (Board Member at CSMP), Pere Navarro (Special delegate of the State at CZFB and SIL’s President) and Blanca Sorigué (CZFB’s and SIL’s General Manager).

The European Conference & European Research Seminar is an international double-congress focused on Europe that gathers the main managers, professionals and academics in terms of global supply chain within every area of activity. In this way, participants from all around the globe and managers from different companies will be part of the Congress. This is interactively focused on the intensive debate about new researches and innovations in the Industry, with the aim of showing and debating contemporary issues in relation to global supply-chain management.

The topics to be discussed will include the main now-a-days challenges in relation to supply chain, in this post-pandemic era: sustainability, digitalization, efficiency, resiliency and talent management.

Furthermore, in this event, members from academic and research communities will set out their current work to be evaluated.

In this way, –as same as in 2011, when the 7th edition of this congress took place in Barcelona– every speaker and participant in this renowned congress will have the opportunity of knowing first-hand the innovations showed at SIL 2023 exhibitors.

While announcing this, Pere Navarro said: “Contributing to the 28th edition of the European Conference & European Research Seminar is a unique opportunity for boosting Logistics as a key-industry on the Economy, matching such a special date as SIL’s 25th anniversary”. “The goal of both entities is to achieve a strong supply chain in an ever-changing world. This is the reason why we are extremely pleased for having the opportunity of working in it, in this single meeting point where other 650 companies of the industry will set out their latest innovations and trends and thousands of professionals will exchange ideas to answer the current and future challenges to be faced”, he added.

“It is undeniable that this strategic alliance will enable us to work together through discovering new projects and exchanging experiences in a country where the main freight traffic routes converge, known worldwide for its powerful network of air, land, rail and maritime infrastructures”, Blanca Sorigué explained. “It is an honour for us that CSCMP had taken into account SIL’s organization again to add synergies in the congress after the 2011’s successful edition”, she added.

On the other hand, Miquel Serracanta, Board Member at CSCMP, highlighted: “After 3 extremely complicated years to global supply chains, every citizen has understood their importance for making products and materials available in its accurate place and time. In order to facilitate supply chains to be resilient, efficient and sustainable, it is fundamental finding ourselves face to face again to learn from each other, because this communication between humans is the key. This congress will help us understanding new challenges to be faced, especially how to manage new technologies that make more-talent-required activities easier and more visible in terms of people and organizations”.
