Barcelona, 16 March, 2023. – This morning, the president of the Federation of National Associations of Freight Forwarders and International Logistics Operators of Latin America and the Caribbean (ALACAT), Moisés Solís, the Special Delegate of the State in the Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona (CZFB), Pere Navarro, the Chief Executive Officer of the CZFB, Blanca Sorigué, the general director of Fundación ICIL, Xavier Rius, and the general director of FETEIA, Blanca Guitart, met with the aim of finalising details in view of the organisation of the 39th edition of the ALACAT Congress to be held within the framework of SIL 2023.
During the meeting, the three representatives discussed the most important aspects of finding synergies between the two events and focusing on the most current and interesting topics for the sector on both continents. The initial agreement to hold this event in Barcelona was signed during the last edition of ALACAT in Mexico.
This Congress is the largest event in the sector held in Latin America and this year it will coincide with the special 25th anniversary edition of SIL. This way, bridges of business and exchange of knowledge and experience will be built between Hispanic and European logistics with the presence of more than 400 professionals from 16 countries.
After the meeting, Pere Navarro expressed his satisfaction, stating that “with this meeting we have been able to share our ideas with a view to organising the ALACAT Congress at SIL, which will be held from 7 to 9 of June. We are sure that we will bring together professionals and companies from both continents, generating understanding and new business at an international level”.
As for Blanca Sorigué, she stated that “we have very positive expectations with the joint celebration of both events, after the success of the SIL 2016 and 2019 editions, which also hosted the ALACAT Congress. This way, we will once again become a point of reflection on topics such as Big Data, Artificial Intelligence and blockchain, which are influencing the improvement of logistics processes with the arrival of Industry 4.0”.
Similarly, Moisés Solís highlighted the positive aspects of the meeting, stating that “this way we have defined some key points for the event that will take place in less than three months’ time. The Federation is already working to address the logistics and supply chain issues that are most in demand by more than 400 professionals who will be attending the event, as well as SIL visitors. We are sure that we are going to experience something historic”.
All attendees of the ALACAT Congress will also have free access to the SIL Knowledge programme, as well as interesting logistics visits in a full programme of pre-congress activities. In addition to the ALACAT Congress, SIL will also be the venue for Eurolog – the annual congress of the European Logistics Association (ELA) -, MedaLogistics Week and the CSCMP’s European Conference & European Research Seminar, all events that will establish and strengthen collaboration links and international business and networking opportunities.
