Barcelona, November 24, 2023.- Blanca Sorigué, general director of the Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona (CZFB) has been awarded at the Premios Nacionales de Logística Diario del Puerto 2023, aimed at recognising the country’s logistics professionals. This award, presented during the Commemorative Gala of the 30th anniversary of the Diario del Puerto, held yesterday at the IFEMA Convention Centre in Madrid, has distinguished Sorigué for its outstanding career and contributions in the logistics sector.

Specifically, Blanca Sorigué‘s work has been recognised for her contribution to revaluing the role of logistics in the 4.0 economy with benchmark events such as the International Logistics Exhibition (SIL) or the Barcelona New Economy Week (BNEW) and for having opted to give a boost to innovation through various projects led by the institution. For the creation of the 3D Incubator, the first European high-tech incubator in 3D printing, inaugurated in 2019 and which has since incubated more than 100 startups. And for the leadership at the time of promoting another disruptive project such as the Incubadora d’Alta Tecnologia en Logística 4.0, the first incubator in Spain dedicated to industry 4.0 in the field of logistics, it has the support of the FEDER Funds and Fundación Incyde and that with less than a year of activity has already incubated 30 technological initiatives.

In addition, the general director of the CZFB, who is also the general director of SIL Barcelona – the benchmark fair for Logistics, Transport, Intralogistics and Supply Chain in Spain, the Mediterranean and Latin America – has gone a step further by positioning this fair as the most representative event of the logistics sector in Spain and one of the most important sectoral events in Europe. Currently, the entire CZFB team is already working on the organization of its next edition, which will be held from June 5 to 7, 2024.

Following the Consorci’s mission to promote economic activity and the transformation of the industry, the CEO also promoted what is now the world’s leading technological ecosystem, DFactory Barcelona. Currently, the technology hub has projects from 30 companies dedicated to robotics, sensors, artificial intelligence, Blockchain and Cloud Computing, among others. An open-plan space that already has 30 companies, more than 500 employees and 80% occupancy: a veritable factory of opportunities.

Sorigué’s leadership has also been recognized for having drawn up the Strategic Plan of the Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona, which began in 2019 and currently has 90% of the actions defined. These actions are based on the three key pillars of the institution, such as the long-term sustainability of the CZFB, the economic and social development of the territory, and urban integration and environmental sustainability.

Blanca Sorigué, general director of the CZFB, said after receiving the award that “this award is a stimulus to continue leading innovative and sustainable initiatives. At the Consortium we work every day to drive growth and achieve standards of excellence in the logistics field. This award is not only a personal recognition, but a testament to the collective effort that drives our mission to innovate and contribute to the sustainable progress of the industry.”

Sorigué has shared this recognition with prominent leaders in the sector, such as Guillermo Belcastro, CEO of Hutchison Ports BEST; Jesús Cuéllar, president of Foro MADCargo and Francisco Lorente, general director of MSC Spain, among others.
