Barcelona, 14 July 2025.-  DFactory Barcelona, the internationally renowned industry 4.0 ecosystem promoted by the Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona (CZFB) continues to expand with the incorporation of B’ZEOS, a company specialiized in green technology and the manufacture of algae-based packaging that offers a sustainable alternative to conventional plastics. This morning the special delegate of the State at the CZFB, Pere Navarro, and the CEO of the CZFB, Blanca Sorigué, held a welcome meeting with Adriana Kyvik, and Camilla Dore, Co-founders of B’ZEOS, who explained first-hand the company’s activity, as well as its challenges and future prospects that open up by being part of a space that advocates promoting innovative solutions.

Expert in green technology and packaging

B’ZEOS specializes in the development of sustainable packaging made from algae. Since 2017, a multidisciplinary team has been working in R+D, materials sciences, and product design. This approach has enabled the company to develop an alternative packaging solution to conventional plastics, aligning with today’s sustainability demands. The company presents an innovative range of products, among which its algae pellets stand out. This material not only serves as a base, but can also be transformed into various applications, such as sheets or trays.

Currently, B’ZEOS collaborates with brands globally, facilitating the integration of bio-based materials that contribute to a more sustainable logistics chain. With operations between Nyon and Barcelona, the company has the support of partners and investors such as Faber, ICIG and Biotope, who are actively promoting the project.

At the welcome ceremony, Pere Navarro, special delegate of the State at the CZFB, stressed that “the integration of B’ZEOS into DFactory Barcelona is a significant step forward for our ecosystem. Its ability to transform algae into sustainable packaging solutions not only addresses a critical global challenge such as plastics but also strengthens our leadership in green innovation and circular economy. We are attracting companies that are truly building the future, and B’ZEOS is a clear example of the synergy we seek to drive technological development with a clear purpose.”

For her part, Adriana Kyvik, Co-founder of B’ZEOS, states that “At B’ZEOS we are committed to innovation, transforming research into biomaterials into concrete solutions that promote the reduction of the use of fossil-based plastics. Our focus is on developing green, circular, and industrially scalable alternatives, with a proven positive impact on both the environment and society.”

The technological ecosystem in continuous transformation

In less than four years of activity, DFactory Barcelona has established itself as an international benchmark space for industry 4.0 companies. It is currently home to 40 multinational, medium and small companies and research centers that develop pioneering projects in the field of robotics, sensors, 3D printing, cybersecurity, augmented and virtual reality, artificial intelligence, Blockchain and nanotechnology.

The Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona is working on the second phase of the DFactory’s implementation, a boost that will allow it to reach 60,000 m2 and thus create an environment designed to promote the manufacture of products, encourage creation and facilitate the exchange of knowledge. This is an effort that is the result of the CZFB’s firm commitment and strategic vision to lead the transformation of industry towards industry 4.0.
