Barcelona, 10 March 2025.- DFactory Barcelona, the internationally renowned industry 4.0 ecosystem driven by the Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona (CZFB), continues to consolidate itself as a hub of innovation with the incorporation of Solport, a multinational company specialising in the development of technological solutions for international trade.
With a 20-year track record and presence in more than 15 countries and five continents, Solport has developed a solid network of clients and partners in the logistics sector. Its portfolio of solutions is designed to optimise the operational processes of shipping agents, freight forwarders, logistics operators, and port terminals, integrating advanced technologies such as sensors, IoT, cybersecurity, and blockchain.
The special state delegate to the CZFB, Pere Navarro, welcomed the team to the DFactory Barcelona facilities, led by Santiago Gómez, CEO and founder of Solport.
A cutting-edge ecosystem for the logistics of the future
The choice of DFactory Barcelona as a new headquarters reflects Solport’s commitment to innovation and the integration of emerging technologies in a historically less digitalized sector. The proximity of the hub to the port, the airport, and the main communication routes with the hinterland of the Port of Barcelona will facilitate Solport’s collaboration with its clients and airport authorities, as well as with other companies in the industry 4.0 ecosystem.
The special state delegate to the CZFB, Pere Navarro, emphasised that “the arrival of Solport strengthens DFactory Barcelona’s position as a global benchmark in the digitalisation of key sectors such as logistics and international trade. Our mission is to continue attracting talent and companies that are committed to industrial innovation and technology as a driver of growth”. “Furthermore, as a public company managing the Zona Franca de Barcelona industrial estate, it is both a challenge and a commitment to continue strengthening the logistics sector in the country, a sector of vital importance to the global economy” added Navarro.
For his part, Santiago Gómez, CEO and founder of Solport, highlighted that “DFactory Barcelona represents the ideal environment to continue driving the digital transformation of international trade. Here we will be able to develop even more advanced solutions in artificial intelligence, robotics, blockchain, and cybersecurity, in close collaboration with other leading companies in the industry 4.0”.
International benchmark in industry 4.0
DFactory Barcelona has become the internationally renowned industry 4.0 ecosystem with the presence of 35 multinational, medium and small companies, and research centres developing pioneering projects in the fields of robotics, sensors, 3D printing, cybersecurity, augmented and virtual reality, artificial intelligence, blockchain, and nanotechnology.
It boasts 17.000 m2 of facilities that foster open and collaborative innovation among companies, which develop projects and technological solutions together. It currently has nearly 90% occupancy, and the technology ecosystem has two international certifications: the Leed Gold from the US Green Building Council, which recognises the design, construction, maintenance, and operation of high-performance energy and sustainable buildings; and recently the WELL Gold certification, which certifies that the various spaces within the building impact the health and well-being of its occupants.
The Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona is working on the second phase of execution of DFactory Barcelona, a boost that will allow it to reach 60.000 m2 of surface area in the last quarter of 2026, and in the coming years, to reach up to 100.000 m2 in total, thus becoming one of the largest industry 4.0 ecosystems in the world.
