Ibercaja once again supports BNEW, reaffirming its commitment to the new economy

• Ibercaja reaffirms its commitment to innovation and once again supports the seventh edition of the event organized by the Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona (CZFB), aimed at driving, connecting, and transforming the new economy.

• Myriam Santos-Morán Torrens, Ibercaja’s Regional Director for the Mediterranean Arc, and Blanca Sorigué, General Director of the CZFB, formalized the agreement this morning at DFactory Barcelona.

Barcelona, September 28, 2026. –  Ibercaja reaffirms, for the fourth consecutive year, its support for Barcelona New Economy Week (BNEW), the event organized by the Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona (CZFB) to drive, connect, and transform the new economy. This morning, Myriam Santos-Morán Torrens, Ibercaja’s Regional Director for the Mediterranean Arc, and Blanca Sorigué, General Director of the CZFB, signed an agreement through which the banking institution renews its BEARTH sponsorship for the seventh edition of BNEW, to be held from October 5 to 7 at DFactory Barcelona.

Myriam Santos-Morán Torrens stated that “Ibercaja’s participation in BNEW reflects our commitment to supporting companies, entrepreneurs, and citizens through the transformation processes that are shaping the future of the economy. Spaces such as BNEW foster knowledge exchange, innovation, and the creation of opportunities, all of which are key to driving more sustainable, competitive, and socially responsive development. In the year that Ibercaja celebrates its 150th anniversary, we reaffirm an approach to our activity that has guided us since our origins: staying close to people and businesses to help them adapt to an ever-evolving environment. This has been our way for a century and a half, and it will continue to be so, promoting initiatives that foster economic and social progress and contribute to building a future with greater opportunities for all.”

For her part, Blanca Sorigué expressed her satisfaction with the agreement and stated that “we are especially pleased to renew this collaboration with Ibercaja, an institution with which we share a commitment to innovation and which, once again, is supporting BNEW as a benchmark event for the new economy.”

Sorigué also explained that “while part of this event’s success lies in its hybrid format, with all content being streamed online, this year we have sought to place greater emphasis on in-person attendance because there is an aspect of innovation that needs to be experienced, shared, and lived firsthand. In addition, in this seventh edition, we are focusing on new verticals that we believe play a significant role in the new economy.”

Eight sectors connected within a unique ecosystem

The seventh edition of Barcelona New Economy Week (BNEW) will bring together eight key sectors shaping the new economy. Sessions on AI, Agrofood, and Science will take place on Monday, October 5, while Talent, Aviation & Space, and Health will be featured on Tuesday, October 6. Finally, on Wednesday, October 7, the program will focus on Energy, Gaming, and startup pitches. The event will maintain its hybrid audiovisual format, featuring three television studios from which the content program will be produced and streamed through the digital platform. This unique formula makes BNEW a distinctive event with the ability to connect professionals from different sectors and all types of organizations, including companies, institutions, public administrations and agencies, clusters, SMEs, startups, and many others, within the unique ecosystem of DFactory Barcelona.

In addition, the event features a program of more than 40 experiential activities, allowing on-site attendees to experience first-hand the latest innovations across the different sectors. Visitors will have the opportunity to take the controls of an F-18 fighter jet simulator, observe a surgical robot in action, interact with humanoid robots, discover autonomous surveillance robots, and take part in experiences related to collaborative robotics and autonomous mobility.

The experiential program will also dedicate a prominent space to creativity and the cultural industries. Fashion, design, architecture, art, and dance will be part of a program featuring immersive exhibitions, demonstrations of 3D printing applied to ceramics, robot-assisted artistic creation, and cobot-assisted painting experiences.

All of this will be complemented by gastronomic and leisure activities that will allow visitors to discover Barcelona’s rich cultural heritage.

It is also worth noting that the CZFB maintains a collaboration agreement with the Ibercaja Foundation, aimed at fostering innovation, training, and talent development in strategic sectors such as mobility, technology, and logistics.
