More than a hundred topics for seven major sectors at BNEW 2022

• Urban mobility, industrial digitalization or circular economy are some of the issues that will be addressed during the third edition of this event, which is to be held at the DFactory from October 3rd to 6th

• The CZFB is opting for a disruptive event that will reinforce Barcelona’s positioning as the capital of the 4.0 economy providing 180 hours of content, distributed in 130 conferences, workshops and debates

• The event will be held in person at the unique DFactory Barcelona building to provide networking opportunities and it will also be possible to attend online through a cutting-edge platform

Barcelona, September 6, 2022.- The Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona (CZFB) will hold for the third consecutive year the Barcelona New Economy Week (BNEW), from October 3rd to 6th, in a successful disruptive format, with the aim of bringing together and leading technological and economic transformations at a global scale, while addressing the latest contemporary issues in the move towards the 4.0 economy.

Over these four days, the BNEW is to gather 600 speakers who will offer up to 180 hours of content divided in 130 panels, workshops, and debates. This event will also bring together 400 participating companies and is expected to be attended by more than 12,000 people.

The event is to be held in person at the unique DFactory Barcelona building, but it will be of a hybrid nature, so people will also be able to attend remotely all the conferences on the topics encompassed in the seven major sectors into which it has been divided. Digital Industry, Real Estate, Mobility, Talent, Sustainability, Invest and Experience are the seven key thematic areas of this must-attend event, which is in line with the latest trends and explores multiple aspects related to new socio-economic opportunities.

130 proposals, among panels, workshops and debates

One of the main thematic areas, BNEW Digital Industry, will address issues such as the humanization of digital technology or the potential of intelligent materials in the construction of the economy of the future, within the New Economy section. Furthermore, in another of the outstanding sections, New Technology, topics such as cybersecurity in Industry 4.0 and the important role of women in technology will be discussed.

This edition incorporates a new panel called BNEW Invest, which aims to address new investment trends for both large companies and SMEs worldwide. The different conferences will address market studies conducted in areas such as Africa, LATAM and Europe; at the same time, the current situation in Ukraine and the investment possibilities in renewable energies and cryptocurrencies will also be covered.

At BNEW Mobility, the sector specifically dedicated to mobility, the private and the public sectors will come together to offer the best solutions and the most groundbreaking proposals in this area. To this end, topics such as electric and sustainable mobility, micromobility or urban mobility in smart cities will be addressed. Moreover, we will also have the chance to find out about the future of railroads, Smart ports (city-port relationship) and the designation of green aircraft.

In line with the priorities of the SDGs set out in the 2030 Agenda, as part of the BNEW Sustainability panel, the CZFB will seek sustainable solutions for private companies and public bodies that they can apply directly and responsibly. Thus, topics such as sustainable consumption, the importance of the circular economy or waste management for key sectors such as food and fashion will be addressed

As for BNEW Real Estate, the event will become the main meeting point for the real estate sector, where different topics ranging from macroeconomics, investment, hosuing, commercial real estate, sustainability/Smart cities and Proptech will be discussed. In addition, subjects such as urban management, the offices of the future and sustainable architecture will also be addressed.

At BTalent, from a more humanitarian point of view within the business and corporate world, issues related to education, equality or entrepreneurship and investment in new times will be discussed. Answers will be sought to respond to the new training and labor needs arising from the changes in consumption and production caused by the new economy.

Finally, the previously designated BNEW City will be transformed this year into BNEW Experience, with the aim of showcasing Barcelona’s wide range of leisure and cultural offerings. Thus, during these days, in the DFactory it will be possible to find exhibitions of sculpture, painting or fashion, or to draw on culinary experiences (wine tasting, chocolate or a showcooking) and even to participate in immersive and technological activities.

The Special State Delegate in the CZFB, Pere Navarro, states that “the BNEW organization entails selecting the most up-to-date topics, focused on the future, in key sectors for the digitalization of the industry, the real estate sector, mobility or sustainability. As an organization that promotes a new economy, we must enable the meeting of actors and companies that take on new challenges to promote the 4.0 economy”.

Blanca Sorigué, CEO of CZFB and BNEW, concludes that “the profound transformation of the real estate sector and the new models of urban mobility have been essential for selecting the topics of each major sector. We want to delve into specific aspects to analyze the latest innovations in each sector, as well as to address the main challenges and opportunities arising in this post-pandemic era”.

After only two editions held during the pandemic, Barcelona New Economy Week (BNEW) has already become a benchmark event and has positioned Barcelona as the capital of the 4.0 economy, as confirmed by the 10,000 registered participants from 111 countries in 2020 and the 12,000 participants in 2021.
