  • The Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona has signed an agreement with Telefónica to carry out the BNEW Digital Industry, which will address the main challenges of the sector, at the Movistar Center.

  • BNEW maintains its hybrid format and already has participants from more than 130 different countries, surpassing the figure of the first edition.

Barcelona, 15 September 2021. The Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona (CZFB) and Telefónica have signed a collaboration agreement whereby the Movistar Center repeats as one of the venues of the Barcelona New Economy Week (BNEW), a hybrid B2B event that will take place in Barcelona from October 5 to 8. On this occasion, the space will host the digital industry vertical and, this way, Telefónica will once again become BNEW’s BVenue Partner, helping to position Barcelona as the world capital of the new economy.

Movistar Center will be the meeting point for discussions on aspects such as new manufacturing technologies, new applications for sectors such as agriculture or health, as well as the impact of 5G on industry.

Present at the signing ceremony, which took place at the Movistar Center, were Pere Navarro, special delegate of the State at the Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona and president of BNEW; and José Manuel Casas, CEO of Telefónica Territorio Este.

Pere Navarro highlighted that at the CZFB “we are proud to have the support of Telefónica once again so that a space as special as the Movistar Center will host again this year one of the sets of the second edition of BNEW. The CZFB and Telefónica are fully aligned in our efforts to develop a new economy to help us to come out stronger in this post-covid era”.

For his part, José Manuel Casas has indicated that “the Movistar Center in Plaça Catalunya will become during these days the center of debate on the digital industry’s future. By providing this space, Telefónica wants to show its support for the city of Barcelona and specifically for this initiative of the CZFB, which last year had a great impact at an international level. We hope that this year it will have the same or more impact because of to the relevance of the topics that will be addressed, such as the revolution that 5G will mean in the industry and in cities”.

Hybrid format with participants from more than 130 different countries

In this second edition, the Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona has continued to entrust the hybrid format that, through an innovative platform, enables participants from all over the world to follow the content of any vertical live or delayed during the days the event lasts. In this sense, last year about 11,000 people from 111 different countries registered and, currently, BNEW 2021 has already participants from more than 130 different countries, exceeding the figure of the first edition and providing the event with a high degree of internationality.

On the other hand, this year the Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona has doubled the topics present in BNEW compared to 2020. Thus, the five verticals of the first edition (Logistics, Digital Industry, Ecommerce, Economic Zones and Real Estate) have been doubled this year with others with a more transversal approach, always under the umbrella of the new economy: Mobility, Sustainable, Talent, Science and City.

Registration for the event is now open, completely free of cost. The CZFB wants to show this way its commitment to companies and its interest in working on economic reactivation, trusting in being able to reach all types of companies to help the global business fabric to face the challenges posed by the new economy.
