Puig, Project 44, Usyncro y Hutchison Port Best awarded at the Logistics Night of SIL

- Within the framework of SIL 2022, the Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona (CZFB) held the sector’s grand gala dinner where the SIL Awards were presented in the categories of best start-up, innovation, sustainability and SDG 5 in the logistics sector.
- Among the award winners were Project 44’s port intelligence solution (Best Innovation), Hutchison Port Best terminal (Sustainability award), Usyncro (Best Start-Up and Maria Enrech Vidal, Global Supply Planning Manager at Puig (SDG 5 in the logistics sector).
Barcelona, June 2, 2022 – In the context of the celebration of the 22nd edition of SIL, organized by the Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona (CZFB), it has taken place the Logistics Night (Noche de la Logística), the great gala dinner of the sector held at the Maritime Museum of Barcelona, which was attended by 600 representatives of the sector and institutions. During the event, the SIL Awards were presented in the categories of Best Innovation, Sustainability, Best Start-Up and ODS 5 in the logistics sector, an act presided over by the Government Delegate in Catalonia, Mª Eugenia Gay, accompanied by Roger Torrent, Minister of Business and Labor of the regional government of Catalonia (Generalitat de Catalunya), Montse Ballarín, Councilor for Trade, Markets, Consumer Affairs, Internal Affairs and Finance of the Barcelona City Council, and Blanca Sorigué, general manager of the Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona (CZFB).
On the occasion of the presentation of the awards, Pere Navarro has stressed that “logistics have now more visibility and social recognition. This is a great opportunity. We can and must take advantage of this moment to promote and project this sector, which is a key piece in our economy and is undoubtedly one of the sectors that is moving the labor market and attracting investment with more force”.
SIL Award for Best Innovation
A jury of 14 journalists specialized in logistics has awarded the prize for Best Innovation to Project 44’s port intelligence solution.
It is a market intelligence tool used to search, analyze, compare and monitor port congestion worldwide. In this regard, Port Intel provides real-time, accurate, global intelligence on port and shipping activity so that supply chain professionals can proactively plan, respond to exceptions and meet customer expectations. Judith Planella, Marketing Manager, Southern Europe, and Miriam Ribas, Senior Strategic Account Director of Project 44, were presented with the award by Blanca Sorigué, general manager of the Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona (CZFB).
SIL Award for Sustainability
The sustainability award was granted to Hutchison Port Best, one of the most modern container terminals, which offers one of the highest productivity ratios in the world. Guillermo Belcastro, CEO of Hutchison Ports Best, was in charge of receiving the award.
The terminal has been awarded due to its sustainability strategy, aligned with the SDGs of the United Nations 2030 Agenda and contributing especially to 12 of the 17 goals. In this sense, the company has been one of the key Business Units in this process, with the aim of maintaining and strengthening its position as a benchmark in terms of sustainability for logistics and container business in Southern Europe. It is also positioned as a benchmark in environmental sustainability within the Hutchison Ports Group terminals, thanks to its semi-automated operating model, based mainly on electric cranes. Guillermo Belcastro, CEO of Hutchison Ports Best, received the award from the hands of the Government Delegate in Spain, Mª Eugenia Gay.
SIL Award for Best Start-Up
The winning Start-Up in this category was Usyncro, a logistics tool of the future, because it simplifies the management of shipments by synchronizing involved parties, transactions and documents in the same place. A cloud solution that allows shipments to be digitized in an accessible, collaborative, efficient, transparent, useful and customized way. Cristina Martín, CEO of Usyncro, received the award, which was presented by Montse Ballarín, Councilor for Commerce, Markets, Consumer Affairs, Internal Affairs and Finance of Barcelona City Council.
SIL Female Talent Award
The Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona has created this award to give visibility to the role of women in a very masculinized sector.
In this context, Maria Enrech Vidal, director of global supply planning at Puig, has been awarded for promoting responsible logistics, established according to the best professional standards.
In this sense, Enrech has stood out for its work in achieving the most sustainable logistics network in the beauty sector thanks to the collaboration and commitment of its strategic partners. The 3 main action plans on which it has based this collaboration and commitment are: developing green warehouses (through the supply of renewable energy, using recyclable packaging materials and the decarbonization of transport), promoting the use of clean fuels and favoring the exchange between logistics actors.
Maria Enrech Vidal herself received the award from the Minister of Business and Labor of the regional government of Catalonia (Generalitat de Catalunya), Roger Torrent.
