SIL Barcelona returns with 650 participating companies and visitors from 81 countries

  • The Leading Exhibition for Logistics, Transport, Intralogistics, and Supply Chain in Southern Europe, organized by the Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona, will bring together the main decision-makers of the industry in its 22nd edition.

 

  • The exhibition, which covers the entire supply chain, will feature more than 100 exclusive innovations worldwide.

 

  • The official inauguration, presided over by the Minister of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, Raquel Sánchez, will be on Tuesday, May 31 at 5 p.m.

 

Barcelona, 25 May 2022. – The 22nd edition of the International Logistics Exhibition (SIL) of Barcelona, the leading exhibition for Logistics, Transport, Intralogistics, and Supply Chain in Southern Europe, organized by the Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona (CZFB), will be held from next Tuesday, 31 May to 2 June in Pavilion 8 of the Montjuïc-Plaça Espanya Exhibition Centre of Fira de Barcelona. The exhibition returns after two editions of forced absence due to the global health situation and does so consolidating the importance of the logistics sector for the functioning of the economy and enhancing its visibility, with the participation of 650 companies.

Pere Navarro, special delegate of the State in the Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona has pointed out that “logistics is that crucial sector in our lives to which society had never paid too much attention. However, the pandemic has valued its function and everything it brings to us in our day to day”.  Navarro also wanted to highlight “the importance of SIL as a great meeting point for the sector, where all the actors in the supply chain meet annually, being one of the largest exhibitions in the world and the referent in Spain, the Mediterranean, Southern Europe and Latin America”.

Exclusive innovations

Among the participating companies there is a 30% internationality, with the presence of countries such as Argentina, China, Denmark, Ecuador, Colombia, Mexico, Slovakia, France, Netherlands, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Portugal, Taiwan, UAE, UK or USA, among others.

In this sense, SIL 2022 is a great opportunity for companies to present their latest developments. Therefore, in this edition the exhibition will have the exclusive worldwide presentation of more than 100 innovations. In addition, 150 startups will participate in the exhibition, among which 10 have been selected by the Start-up Innovation Hub to opt for the Best Start-up Award.

With just under a week to go until the event starts, the SIL has already exceeded 12,000 registered from 81 different countries (29 from Europe, 18 from Africa, 17 from America, 16 from Asia and 1 from Oceania).  “The SIL is the largest exhibition event that brings together the entire supply chain, as well as an ideal space in which to network. However, we also have a large Congress in which we bring together more than 300 speakers from important national and international companies. On this occasion, the experts will help us to address the situation of the sector from the axes of innovation, sustainability, and talent, says Blanca Sorigué, general director of the entity.

Official opening

The exhibition will open its doors on Tuesday, 31 May at 10am, although the official opening will be held that same day at 5pm, with an act presided over by the Minister of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, Raquel Sánchez.

Also, during the SIL the same exhibitors will hold 150 different events. In this sense, and in the context of Extremadura’s role as a guest autonomous community invited in this 22nd edition of the SIL, on 1 June at 11am there will be the intervention of Guillermo Fernández Vara, president of the Junta de Extremadura. Throughout the exhibition, the autonomous community will have the opportunity to show all its offer and global logistics potential.

Finally, on 1 June, the Nit de la Logística will take place, upon invitation, at the Museu Marítim de Barcelona, where the SIL awards will be presented to the best start-up, SDG 5 in the logistics sector, the best innovation, and the most sustainable project.
