The Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona presents the District 4.0 at Advanced Factories

- It is participating with a stand where it will showcase its technological innovation ecosystem and industry 4.0 development at one of the world’s leading fairs that brings together experts, companies, and sector leaders.
- The special delegate of the State in the CZFB, Pere Navarro, and the general director of the CZFB, Blanca Sorigué, visited the fair this morning and met with some companies installed in District 4.0 while also learning about the latest innovations and trends in industry 4.0.
Barcelona, 8 April 2025.- The Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona (CZFB) is participating from today until Thursday, 10 April, in the Advanced Factories 2025 fair where it is presenting its District 4.0, an internationally renowned ecosystem in industry 4.0 and advanced technologies, with DFactory Barcelona as the nerve centre. At the Zona Franca de Barcelona stand, visitors can learn about the transformation the Zona Franca industrial estate is undergoing, which has become the District 4.0 of the Metropolitan Region of Barcelona and aims to be the major global reference for industry 4.0.
In the District 4.0 of the Zona Franca, DFactory Barcelona stands out, the internationally renowned ecosystem of industry 4.0 that already has 37 companies and a 90% occupancy rate. The CZFB is already working on an expansion phase to increase from the current 17.000 m2 to the 60.000 m2 it hopes to have ready by the end of 2026. Some of the companies installed at the DFactory will explain their projects at the CZFB stand, as well as their technological developments applied to industry: robotics, 3D printing, AI, IoT, Blockchain, augmented and virtual reality, nanotechnology… The philosophy of DFactory Barcelona is permeating all the activities carried out in the 6 million m2 of the Zona Franca de Barcelona, giving way to District 4.0.
Similarly, the Workshop Arena at Advanced Factories hosted a knowledge session today where attending professionals could learn about the Logistics 4.0 Incubator, Spain’s first high-tech incubator dedicated to industry 4.0 in the logistics sector value chain, driven by the Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona (CZFB) with the support of the INCYDE Foundation through the European ERDF funds. This incubator has already incubated a total of 60 initiatives in just under two years, some of which participated during this session.
Pere Navarro, the special delegate of the State in the CZFB, highlighted that “Advanced Factories is one of the largest international events in industrial innovation that brings together experts, companies, and sector leaders to present and discuss the latest innovations in robotics, AI, IoT, 3D printing, cybersecurity… In this context, we believe it is a good platform to present District 4.0, not only of Barcelona but also of its entire Metropolitan Region, which is already an international reference and aims to be the major global reference.”
For her part, Blanca Sorigué, general director of the CZFB, explained that “the CZFB is fully committed to promoting digital transformation and the modernisation of industry to foster job opportunities and economic growth. District 4.0 is key to positioning Barcelona as a global reference in the fourth industrial revolution through the integration of the most advanced technology, sustainability, talent, and economic development.”
