Barcelona, 26 June 2025– The Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona (CZFB) and the Pimec Foundation have signed a strategic collaboration agreement with the aim of promoting the Emppersona-Second Chance programme. This programme supports entrepreneurs and self-employed people who are going through serious difficulties with the aim of giving them a second chance.

The alliance was made public today as part of the conference “The company of the twenty-first century in the era of Artificial Intelligence: senior talent”, held at the DFactory Barcelona of the CZFB and which brought together businessmen, entrepreneurs, experts in people management and institutional representatives.

With this agreement, both entities join forces to create more inclusive work environments, break age stereotypes and take advantage of the differential value provided by the accumulated experience of professionals over 45 years of age. Among the planned actions, the promotion of awareness-raising, training and exchange of good practices initiatives stands out, as well as support for digital platforms to connect senior talent with real job opportunities.

Blanca Sorigué, general director of the CZFB, stressed that “talent has no age and that is why, at the Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona, we are committed to an inclusive industry, where the experience of senior talent is key to guiding the digital transformation and being able to face the challenges of the new economy. Their strategic vision and ability to adapt are essential assets for the competitiveness of any company”.

For his part, Josep González, president of the Pimec Foundation, stressed that “this collaboration shows that talent management is not a social issue, but a business one. It is a direct way to strengthen the competitiveness of SMEs”.

According to the data from the survey “Does talent have age? 2024”, prepared by the Pimec Foundation, 97% of the companies that have incorporated senior professionals value their contribution positively, but still 53% admit that there is age discrimination in hiring. The agreement, through the Emppersona-Second Chance programme, also aims to reverse this trend and consolidate a business model that combines innovation with the experience, knowledge and commitment of senior talent.
