The Secretary of State for Telecommunications and Digital Infrastructures of the Government of Spain de and the Catalan Minister of Research and Universities visit DFactory Barcelona

- Antonio Hernando, Secretary of State for Telecommunications and Digital Infrastructures of the Government of Spain, and Núria Montserrat, Minister of Research and Universities of the Generalitat of Catalonia, have met some of the companies installed in the DFactory that have their own technologies and patents and are becoming international.
- On the occasion of the visit, the special delegate of the State at the CZFB, Pere Navarro, and the general director of the CZFB, Blanca Sorigué, presented the project to expand this industry 4.0 ecosystem, whose initial phase is already in project and will reach 100,000 m2 once completed.
Barcelona, December 12, 2024.- The Secretary of State for Telecommunications and Digital Infrastructures of the Government of Spain, Antonio Hernando, and the Minister of Research and Universities of the Generalitat of Catalonia, Núria Montserrat, today visited the facilities of DFactory Barcelona, the industry 4.0 ecosystem of international reference promoted by the Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona (CZFB), which currently brings together 35 companies in robotics, 3D printing, sensors, artificial intelligence, IoT, augmented and virtual reality and Blockchain. During the visit they were able to learn about the activity of some of these companies such as Asorcad, Innovae, Hubmaster, Kion ITS EMEA Iberia, Ariño Design, ICIL,Integral Innnovation Experts. 9altitudes, Witeklab and Zentinel MDS.
During the visit, the Secretary of State for Telecommunications and Digital Infrastructures of the Government of Spain, Antonio Hernando Vera, and the Minister of Research and Universities of the Generalitat of Catalonia, Núria Montserrat, were able to learn about the activity carried out by various companies installed in the ecosystem, many of them with patents and innovative technologies at an international level. Likewise, the special delegate of the State in the CZFB, Pere Navarro, and the general director of the CZFB, Blanca Sorigué, have presented the details of the execution of the second phase of the innovative ecosystem, which will reach 100,000 square meters of surface area.
In this sense, the special delegate of the State in the CZFB, Pere Navarro, explained that “all the companies that are present in DFactory have their own technologies and have developed different patents, so they are growing and most of them are already internationalised”. Navarro added that “DFactory Barcelona is synonymous with economic and social progress, where companies develop innovative projects and solutions for a wide variety of sectors, which is generating many opportunities. This is an open ecosystem where companies – all of them related to industry 4.0 – interact, carry out joint projects, solve challenges and feed each other through their respective experiences”.
Finally, the general director of the CZFB, Blanca Sorigué, stressed that “DFactory is already at 85% occupancy and many of the companies that are installed are growing and need more space. That is why we have already started the process to launch the expansion project of a second phase that will reach 100,000 square meters of surface area with the aim of continuing to promote new technologies applied to the industrial sector, the business fabric and the creation of new opportunities, both in business and specialized talent”.
During their visit to DFactory Barcelona, both the Secretary of State for Telecommunications and Digital Infrastructures of the Government of Spain and the Minister of Research and Universities of the Generalitat of Catalonia, have seen first-hand some of the main projects that are being developed and growing in this great open innovation ecosystem of 17,000m2. where a new way of producing more, better and closer is conceived.
