Barcelona, 9 May 2024. – Spain is a world-class logistics power, as it has qualitative advantages such as its enviable geographical location, which forms an immense logistics platform and a central node for the European Union’s exchanges with the rest of the world, or first-class transport infrastructures. And SIL 2024, as an international reference fair for the sector, will give a good account of all this with one of the largest participations of Autonomous Communities in its history.

Aragon, the Canary Islands, Castilla y León, Catalonia, the Basque Country, Extremadura, Galicia, and the Region of Murcia will be present from 5 to 7 June at SIL Barcelona 2024, which will be held in Hall 8 of the Plaza España venue of Fira de Barcelona, with a very outstanding participation where they will present all their logistical potential.

In the case of Aragon, they will have a stand of 300 square meters where they will exhibit their great logistics capacity recognized internationally due to the availability of space, concentration of economic activity, excellent intramodality (plane, train, road) and ability to interconnect corridors and routes.

The Canary Islands, on the other hand, will participate with the presence of the Gran Canaria Free Trade Zone Consortium, the Tenerife Free Trade Zone Consortium and the Gran Canaria Special Consortium.

Castilla y León will be represented by the CyLoG Association as the Benavente Logistics Centre, the Zaldesa Intermodal Platform in Salamanca and the Burgos Transport and Customs Centre, within the space shared with the ACTE Association, Association of Transport and Logistics Centers of Spain.

For its part, Catalonia will participate in the SIL through the Department of Territory and its companies. A special presence will be CIMALSA, a public company in charge of the promotion, development and management of infrastructures and centers for the transport of goods and logistics. Also present will be Incasòl -special urban planning entity of the Generalitat-, Ports of Generalitat, FGC (Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat), Aeropuertos de Cataluña, and Ifercat.

The Basque Country will also play a very prominent role, showing its key position as a strategic logistics hub of the European Atlantic Axis. The region has infrastructures that favor the competitiveness of the industrial sector and promote multimodality, through the important port of Bilbao, Vitoria-Gasteiz airport as one of the main loading points nationwide, the road network, rail network and logistics centers. Euskadi participates through the Mobility and Logistics Cluster, which aims to promote the competitiveness of its partners, companies and agents in the Basque Country that work in the field of logistics and supply chain, infrastructures, and mobility.

Extremadura’s participation in SIL 2024 will come from the hand of Extremadura Avante, a group of public companies of the Junta de Extremadura, which aims to provide services to Extremadura companies in the different phases of their development, so that they can be more competitive, promoting the industrial and business development of Extremadura. They manage and market three major logistics and industrial areas that involve the provision of more than 650 hectares of high-performance industrial land. Equipped with all urban services and intermodal logistics connections, they allow the immediate implementation of your project.

Galicia will be represented by Galicia Logistics, which brings together the joint offer of logistics services, infrastructures, and business land in Galicia to bring any company closer to the international market.

The Region of Murcia, for its part, will display its entire logistics offer at its stand with infrastructures such as the Logistics Activity Zones of Murcia and Cartagena, the Port of Cartagena, and the International Airport of the Region of Murcia, as well as road and rail infrastructures.

It should be noted that in this edition, given the proximity of the European elections (9 June), SIL Barcelona has decided not to have a guest Autonomous Community as it has been doing in the last 5 editions: Andalusia (2017), Valencian Community (2018), Aragon (2019), Extremadura (2022) and Euskadi (2023). Once again, the SIL will once again be the international reference meeting point for the entire logistics sector where Spain’s logistics potential will be more present than ever, also through the outstanding participation of the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, with the presence of Puertos del Estado, Renfe, Adif and Aena, and the Ministry of Housing and Urban Agenda through SEPES.
