Zona Franca de Barcelona donates computer equipment to non-profit organisations to combat the digital gap

  • The special delegate of the State in the CZFB, Pere Navarro, today delivered the first computer equipment to the Marianao Foundation, based in Sant Boi de Llobregat.

 

  • The initiative is part of the Protocol for the transfer of assets that the entity has launched in compliance with its commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

 

Barcelona, 16 July 2024.- The Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona (CZFB) delivered today the first computer equipment that the company will donate to different non-profit organisations working to combat the digital gap in groups of people at risk of social exclusion. This initiative is part of the fulfilment of the CZFB’s commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda. More specifically, this is one of the actions specified in the Protocol for the transfer of movable goods or rights that the entity has launched with the double objective of extending the useful life of different types of work equipment, in addition to guaranteeing a responsible use of these objects, responding to a social need.

This morning, the special delegate of the State at the CZFB, Pere Navarro, handed over the computer equipment to Alba Pedrós, head of Alliances at the Marianao Foundation. Based in Sant Boi de Llobregat, the Marianao Foundation is a non-profit organisation that accompanies and empowers children, young people and adults to be protagonists of the improvement of their lives and their environment, through different projects of social inclusion and community participation, in addition to providing family guidance services and scholarships for the practice of sport.  extracurricular activities, as well as to cover basic needs.

Pere Navarro points out that “in 2019 we made the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) one of our priorities and a differential element of our Corporate Social Responsibility. The Protocol on the transfer of assets is just one example of the different actions implemented by the CZFB to comply with our commitment”.

 

 Commitment to the SDGs

The CZFB’s CSR and Sustainability Policy is aligned with the 10 principles of the United Nations Global Compact on human rights, labour, the environment, corruption and the 2030 Agenda. Within the framework of the SDGs, the entity works more closely with the SDGs of gender equality (SDG 5), decent work and economic growth (SDG 8), quality education (SDG 4), industry, innovation and infrastructure (SDG 9), sustainable cities and communities (SDG 11), climate action (SDG 13), affordable and clean energy (SDG 7).  and partnerships to achieve the goals (SDG 17).
