Zona Franca de Barcelona presents its budgets and main projects for 2024

- With a forecast of 13.23 million euros in profits, which represents an increase of 11.6% over the previous year, the Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona will maintain for next year its clear commitment to innovation, sustainability and commitment to the new economy
- The entity also announces the main projects for 2024, highlighting the execution of the second phase of DFactory Barcelona, the celebration of the 24th edition of SIL Barcelona, the 5th edition of BNEW and the 4th edition of BWAW, as well as continuing with the execution of its Strategic Plan
Barcelona, December 12, 2023 – The plenary of the Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona (CZFB), has approved this morning its budget for 2024, with a forecast of 13.23 million euros in profits (a figure that represents an increase of 11.6% over the previous year). The public entity has also forecast a net turnover for 2024 of 59.2 million euros.
During the celebration, the CZFB presented the main projects for the coming year, highlighting the second phase of implementation of the DFactory Barcelona, which will strengthen this industry 4.0 ecosystem of international reference with an additional 70,000 m2 that will be added to the existing 17,000 m2. Likewise, the entity has presented its main events dedicated to the economic promotion, headed by the celebration of the 24th edition of SIL Barcelona, one of the world’s leading trade fairs for Logistics, Transport, Intralogistics and Supply Chain; the fifth edition of the Barcelona New Economy Week (BNEW) and the fourth edition of the Barcelona Woman Acceleration Week (BWAW).
The CZFB will also continue to promote the entrepreneurial ecosystem with the best initiatives and projects through its two high-tech incubators: the 3D Incubator, the first 3D printing business incubator in Europe, and the Logistics 4.0 Incubator, the first incubator in Spain dedicated to Industry 4.0 in the logistics chain. At the same time, the degree of execution of the entity’s Strategic Plan developed over the last four years was presented, which details 16 strategic projects divided into 532 strategic actions to be developed. So far, 98% of the actions have been executed without any strategic action being delayed.
In this way, the institution will continue in 2024 to be committed to economic activity and promotion, and fully focused on innovation, sustainability and a commitment to the new economy. It should be noted that the Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona is a public entity that does not receive any income or financial support, which self-manages the industrial park and from the benefits it derives from its activities manufactures opportunities for companies and society.
“The 2024 budgets clearly show our commitment to being an engine of progress, driving job creation, promoting investment, and contributing to the sustainable economic growth of our region”, explained Pere Navarro, special delegate of the State in the CZFB, in his appearance. For her part, Blanca Sorigué, CEO of CZFB, said that “through the three strategic axes of the entity, economic sustainability, economic development and social progress of our territory, and urban integration and environmental sustainability, we aspire to be an exemplary model of how public management can make a difference in people’s lives and in building a prosperous and sustainable future”.
