Conclusions BWAW 2025, with Pere Navarro
In this episode of SDG5, Zona Franca Barcelona’s female talent podcast, we move on to Barcelona Woman Acceleration Week, an event that has put the city at the centre of the conversation on gender equality. Together with Pere Navarro, special delegate of the State in Zona Franca Barcelona, we reflected on the achievements and challenges faced by the fight for gender equality.
Navarro shares his assessment of the event, highlighting the active participation of men and women in the panels and debates. However, it also points to worrying data on wage inequality and the burden of caring for dependents, which fall disproportionately on women. Throughout the conversation, the cultural and educational roots that perpetuate these inequalities and the need to generate female role models in various fields, beyond sport, are discussed.
The episode also addresses the importance of legislation in promoting equality, as well as the need for these laws to translate into real changes in society. Navarro emphasizes that, although progress has been made, there is still a long way to go, especially in the inclusion of women in STEM careers and in the fight against cultural movements that regress in equal rights.
Finally, a call to action is made to continue promoting policies that guarantee equitable financing for projects led by women, highlighting that diversity is not only a social value, but also a business opportunity. This episode is a reminder that the fight for gender equality is a collective effort that requires the commitment of the whole of society.
