Barcelona Meeting Point 2018 will showcase the latest innovations and real estate trends

• The trade fair will have an exhibition area where more than 50 sector startups will present disruptive solutions that will have a direct impact on the real estate sector by redefining business models.

• BMP is the first trade fair to create an acceleration programme for startup real estate agencies to encourage internationalisation and promote investment and networking with potential corporate partners.

• As well as the BMP International Symposium, the trade fair will include a specific programme devoted to PropTech to respond to future challenges presented by new technologies applied to the sector.

Barcelona, 12 September 2018. The 22^nd edition of Barcelona Meeting Point, which will take place from 25 to 28 October, will present the latest trends in innovation and real estate to address the great transformation of the sector through application of new technologies, making way for new business models. That’s why one of the most important new additions to BMP 2018, which is organised by the Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona, will be the creation of the BMP Startup Connection Hub. The trade fair will have an exhibition area where more than 50 sector startups will present disruptive solutions that will have a direct impact on the real estate sector that are redefining the way business is done.

The Startup Connection Hub at Barcelona Meeting Point will be a get-together for big companies, potential partners and investors with startups from the real estate world taking part. Within this area, the ‘offer’ section of the exhibition will be divided into the following sectors: Emerging property financing services; technologies for more efficient, energy efficient cities and constructions; energy efficiency and new construction formulas; marketplaces and technologies that are facilitating new ways of living; and new trends and innovations that are opening new business possibilities in the sector.

First trade-fair acceleration programme

Barcelona Meeting Point is the first real estate fair to create an acceleration programme aimed at startups. The ten best startups that participate in the Startup Connection Hub will participate in the “BMP Accelerator Programme” for six months. This real estate accelerator will provide tools to identify, develop and create market opportunities, methods to facilitate internationalisation of these business initiatives, encourage investment in startups and to boost networking opportunities with potential corporate partners. This acceleration programme is sponsored by the Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona and La Salle Technova.

BMP award to the Best Startup

A jury made up of prestigious professionals will choose the five best finalists for the BMP award to the Best Startup from among the 50 participating startups. As part of the BMP, this important award will be given to the best startup at the trade fair. At the same time, the five projects selected will also be advertised in the directory of startups at Barcelona Meeting Point as the year’s best startups.

BMP PropTech Summit

All startups taking part in the Startup Connection Hub will have access to specialised sector knowledge with free entrance for one person to the BMP PropTech Summit, which will take place on 25 and 26 October at the trade fair. This programme, dedicated to PropTech, will propose solutions to the future challenges posed by new technologies applied to the sector, and will include specific networking sessions where exhibitor companies and BMP sponsors will be able to contact potential investors. The BMP PropTech Summit will host several discussion panels on matters of importance to the sector in five main subject areas: 1) Real Estate Fintech; 2) Smart Building, Housing and Cities; 3) ConTech & Business Management; 4) Listing & Search and Marketplace; and 5) Near Future.
