El Consorci de la Zona Franca (CZFB), HP, Leitat and SEAT join efforts to cover with 3D printing the needs that might arise in the fight against COVID-19
The rapid expansion of COVID-19 virus has surprised the world, generating a state of tension, especially in pharmacies, health centers and hospitals, due to the shortage of facemasks and sanitary protective and respiratory equipment. In this situation, there are many private initiatives from the world of 3D printing that have emerged with ideas and designs that can meet some of these needs.
Given this scenario, the CZFB, the multinational HP, technological leader in industrial 3D printing equipment; Leitat and SEAT automobile company have made their professionals and technological knowledge available to the authorities and health centers in order to respond to the needs that may arise related to the fight against the spread of COVID-19 through additive manufacturing technologies. Likewise, the Consorci offers to facilitate the coordination of its resources for any private project that is being carried out aiming to scale to an industrial level.
This initiative has also been extended to the European Union, the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism and the Government of Catalonia. Directors at the CZFB have contacted the European authorities to provide them with a list of equipment, resources and materials available to them for the covering of any need related to 3D printing: from technical personnel, designers, operators and production managers to the latest technology equipment that includes software tools, printing equipment and post-processing of printed parts.
In addition, the Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona offers companies and entrepreneurs its facilities for sharing their ideas and 3D printing projects with them, to help stop the massive coronavirus spread and protect the health of all citizens, in special of health professionals.
