Pedro Sánchez visits DFactory during Barcelona New Economy Week

  • The President of the Government of Spain was able to learn first-hand about the projects being developed by the 40 companies installed in the internationally renowned Industry 4.0 ecosystem promoted by the Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona.

 

  • Pedro Sánchez, who was accompanied by the General Director of the CZFB, Blanca Sorigué, also showed interest in the projects of the startups participating these days in BNEW 2025.

 

Barcelona, September 29, 2025 – The President of the Government of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, attended this afternoon the 6th edition of the Barcelona New Economy Week (BNEW), organized by the Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona (CZFB) and held at DFactory Barcelona. Sánchez was accompanied by the General Director of the CZFB, Blanca Sorigué, who gave him a tour of the DFactory Barcelona facilities and showed him the activity of the 40 companies that are part of this Industry 4.0 ecosystem, which has already become an international benchmark.

The companies at DFactory Barcelona presented the President with projects in robotic surgery, virtual reality, advanced manufacturing, automation of storage and production processes, advanced warehouse security technologies, 3D printing in various materials, innovative solar systems, sensors to improve logistics processes or detect defects in the construction sector, data management and analysis…

Pedro Sánchez was also able to see the progress of the expansion works at DFactory Barcelona. The Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona is building 4 new buildings that will allow the current 17,000 m² to be expanded to 60,000 m² by the end of 2026. DFactory Barcelona is the heart of the District 4.0, an activity area of more than 6 million square meters dedicated to Industry 4.0, the result of the CZFB’s firm commitment and strategic vision to lead the transformation of industry towards digitalization. District 4.0 aims to be a hub for technology companies in Barcelona and aspires to become a global benchmark.

Finally, the President of the Government also learned about the activities of some of the startups that are part of the high-tech incubators in logistics 4.0 and 3D printing promoted by the Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona. At the same time, Pedro Sánchez was also able to talk with some of the startups participating in the 6th edition of the Barcelona New Economy Week, which are competing for the BNEW 2025 awards as the best startups in sustainability, talent, health, aviation, digital industry, and mobility.
