Pere Navarro has announced that a large investment in 4.0 economy projects in Barcelona is forecasted

The special delegate of the State at the Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona has explained that the entity will soon extend its 3D printing incubator project that has just completed its first year of life.

Navarro has also presented the future projects and the strategic plan of the entity that is focused on three important pillars and nine fundamental objectives.

Barcelona, March 2, 2020.- Within the framework of the Barcelona Tribune, the special delegate of the State at the Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona (CZFB), Pere Navarro, has participated in the luncheon-colloquium “Free Zone, economic engine and factory of opportunities ”, where he has taken a walk through the history and trajectory of the entity and explained his strategic plan as well as the projects planned for the future. In this sense, the special delegate of the State in the CZFB has announced that as a result of the different conversations held with different levels of City Council of Barcelona, “the Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona will collaborate with the city in developing projects to promote the 4.0 economy, a field of activity where we plan to make a large investment that will be specified and explained by all the parties involved in the coming weeks. ”

Pere Navarro has also explained that due to its first year’s success “we have decided to extend the 3D Factory Incubator project, the first European 3D printing incubator that we are leading jointly with the Leitat technology center and the INCYDE Foundation of the Chambers of Commerce of Spain.” The special delegate of the State at the CZFB has also advanced that “in June we will open our 4.0 factory known as DFactory 4.0. It will be a place where several activities that manufacture products jointly will coexist, as one of its characteristics will be its ability to make the different manufacturers of different products to relate with each other.”

During the Barcelona Tribune lunch-colloquium Pere Navarro has also explained to the outstanding personalities of the economic, social, cultural and scientific world the strategic plan of the entity for the next years that is based on three pillars: the long-term economic sustainability of the CZFB , the economic -and, thus, social- development of the territory, and its urban integration and environmental sustainability. The CZFB has defined 9 strategic objectives for achieving these pillars.

The special delegate of the State at the CZFB has assured that “we are a model of success, of adaptation to the times and of collaboration between administrations”. At the same time, he recalled that “we do not receive any public resources, but we get benefits that we can reinvest in our society. As an entity, we have not been anchored in the free zone model, but we have been updating our activity and we have always been characterized by our special and primary commitment to Barcelona’s real estate and economic development.”

It should also be noted that the CZFB will organize in October, for the first time, the International Logistics Exhibition in Barranquilla “with the aim of being a sector’s reference in America” according to Navarro. The Barcelona public entity is also in negotiations with the Government of Colombia to replicate its 3D incubator in the Free Zone of Bogotá, while promoting startups collaborations in New York City. The CZFB also has an ambitious investment plan that will focus on 4.0 industry and the research and knowledge centers of the Metropolitan Region.
