Barcelona, January 31, 2024.- DFactory Barcelona, the industry 4.0 ecosystem of international reference promoted by the Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona (CZFB) continues to consolidate its growth and drive for innovation with the recent incorporation of the company SHINING 3D in its facilities.

SHINING 3D is a company specialized in the research and development of high-precision 3D scanning and 3D printing technologies, focused on three key areas such as metrology solutions, professional 3D scanning and digital dental tools. Since its founding in 2004 and headquartered in China, SHINING 3D has established itself as a key contributor to 3D digital technology, exerting global influence and committing to spreading the use of digitization technologies.

The company has a workforce of more than 1.000 employees distributed worldwide, with strategic headquarters in China, Germany, Spain and the United States. With 36% of its workforce dedicated to R+D, its hard work is reflected in obtaining more than 500 patents, in addition to its dedication to the development of knowledge, making it a fundamental agent in the definition of national industrial standards in China.

SHINING 3D’s range of products ranges from metrological-grade and professional 3D scanners, specialized dental solutions, 3D printing systems and resins, to tools designed for the education sector. Their collaborations with the main providers of specialized 3D software and automation systems allow them to provide comprehensive solutions, adapted to the needs and challenges of each user.

The special delegate of the State in the CZFB, Pere Navarro, stressed that “we celebrate the incorporation of a global company as unique as SHINING 3D in the ecosystem of DFactory Barcelona. Our goal is to continue promoting collaboration between companies, the incorporation of specialized talent and the convergence of new technologies that favour the technological and economic development of society”.

For his part, the company’s spokesperson, Niels Stenzel, said that being part of the DFactory Barcelona ecosystem “not only involves promoting the use of 3D scanning solutions to face the challenges of the industry, but also exploring new sectors and solutions for an increasingly digitized world. DFactory is an incubator of multidisciplinary projects, a source of solutions and questions that inspire the exploration of new horizons. SHINING 3D wants to be part of it, to be present and to make its solutions and knowledge available”.

A constant growth ecosystem

DFactory Barcelona continues to meet the goal of becoming the factory of the future, promoting and developing Industry 4.0, new talent and new technologies and investments, in an unparalleled space. In this environment, technologies such as 3D printing, robotics, cybersecurity and blockchain, artificial intelligence or sensors give rise to a new way of producing, much more sustainable, generating synergies between companies and providing the possibility of establishing alliances with the rest of the organizations present in the building.

It is a project aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations 2030 Agenda, which facilitates the digitalization of industry as a key lever for the ecological transition and enhances the circular economy by adopting new sustainable production and advanced manufacturing systems.

Currently, the ecosystem has facilities of 17,000m2 on four floors, where nearly 30 companies have already set up shop and around 500 people work, figures that support its 80% occupancy. In addition, it is expected that the second phase of the emblematic building will be planned this year, a boost that will allow it to reach another 72,000 m2 in the coming years. With this, a total of 1,500 people is expected to work directly and 5,000 indirectly.
