Barcelona, May 15, 2024.- The Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona (CZFB) continues to expand the ecosystem of DFactory Barcelona, the factory of the future, with the incorporation of the company SIARQ. Today, Alessandro Caviasca, CEO and founding partner of SIARQ, and Pere Navarro, special delegate of the State at the CZFB, met to sign the agreement that marks the beginning of the company’s activity in the industry 4.0 ecosystem of international reference promoted by the CZFB.

SIARQ, a company that began developing and producing innovative solar designs in Barcelona in 2003, is a Green Tech company that designs, manufactures and markets solar lighting solutions for public spaces with integrated environmental sensors. In its beginnings, the company dedicated itself to the design of the first solar products, betting on organic aesthetics and multifunctionality, which facilitated its adoption in the urban space. This innovative approach has allowed it to position itself with high values of creativity, quality and commitment to innovation.

From 2013 onwards, the team focused on technological R+D, industrialization and integration of IoT-based solutions, aimed at taking care of air quality and environmental health. Currently, SIARQ is a benchmark in designer and high-performance solar lighting, with a catalogue of new generation urban solar lighting products installed in Spain, Europe and the Middle East. Likewise, SIARQ also actively participates in European R+D projects by contributing its experience in solar design, a new discipline where SIARQ is a pioneer.

SIARQ’s innovative project is the SOLAR HUB, a new concept of urban solar lighting with integrated environmental sensors. It is an end-to-end solution that, using Internet of Things (IoT) technology, can capture environmental data from the city and send it to the cloud in real time. The URBAN BRAIN digital platform allows a quick visualization of critical parameters, using algorithms specially designed to generate automated reports.

SOLAR HUB integrates paraboloid photovoltaic panels with patented 360º solar technology, and can currently be seen installed in several municipalities in Catalonia, such as Barcelona (AMB-Zona Franca), Sant Cugat, Sant Boi de Llobregat and Premià de Mar. In fact, SOLAR HUB is aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals for the 2030 Agenda, directly committed to SDG 3, on good health and well-being; SDG 7, sustainable and affordable energy; SDG 9, industry, innovation and infrastructure; SDG 11, sustainable cities and communities, and SDG 13, climate action.

Pere Navarro, special delegate of the State in the CZFB, explains that “DFactory Barcelona is a dynamic ecosystem, which is in continuous growth and evolution due to the changing environment that the advance towards industry 4.0 represents. Having SIARQ is a great privilege, not only for our technology hub but also for the synergies that can arise with the other companies located in the building”.

For his part, Alessandro Caviasca, CEO and founding partner of SIARQ, highlighted that “being part of the DFactory Barcelona project represents an exceptional opportunity for SIARQ and a significant milestone in our commitment to the construction of sustainable cities. We are deeply proud to join the DFactory community, where we will bring our expertise in solar technology solutions that benefit citizens”.

From now on, SIARQ will have a space in the industry 4.0 ecosystem at DFactory Barcelona, to increase its possibilities of generating new business and promoting the brand among the entire public and large corporations that make up this innovation space.

Industry 4.0 in the cathedral of the new economy

DFactory Barcelona is the factory of the future from where a new, much more sustainable way of producing is materialized. The companies, which develop cutting-edge projects in the field of 3D printing, robotics, cybersecurity and blockchain, artificial intelligence and sensors, have the possibility of generating synergies and establishing alliances with the rest of the organizations present in the building.

Currently, the ecosystem has facilities of 17,000m2 on four floors, where nearly 30 companies have already set up shop and around 500 people work, which means 85% occupancy. In addition, the Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona is already working on the second phase of execution of DFactory Barcelona, a boost that will allow it to reach another 72,000 m2 in the coming years. With this, a total of 1.500 people are expected to work directly and 5.000 indirectly.
