  • Eisa Jaber al Kuwari has seen first-hand the facilities of the 3D Factory Incubator and the DFactory Barcelona, aimed at boosting the new economy.

 

  • The meeting has served to strengthen the CZFB’s ties with the Arab country’s economy and generate new opportunities for business alliances and investment.

 

Barcelona, 6 May 2021. The Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona (CZFB) greeted this morning Eisa Jaber al Kuwari, Consul General of Qatar in Barcelona, at its headquarters where he met with the special delegate of the State in the CZFB, Pere Navarro. The objective of the visit has been to deepen CZFB’s role as a promoter of 4.0 industry and economy in order to assess all the possibilities that the entity can bring to companies in the Arab country in the context of the new economy.

In this sense, Eisa Jaber al Kuwari has seen first-hand the facilities of the 3DFactory Incubator, the first European high-tech incubator in 3D printing. He has also checked its innovation ecosystem as well as the new ways of producing. Since its inauguration in March 2019, 61 companies have been incubated, thus exceeding the initial expectations that foresaw to incubate 100 projects during the first 5 years. It has received more than 300 requests from start-ups and entrepreneurs to develop in the incubator their business idea based on 3D printing. 79% of the requests are local and 21%, international.

Likewise, the Qatari consul has also visited with Pere Navarro the DFactory Barcelona facilities, 17,000 square meters dedicated to 4.0 Industry that will be inaugurated next summer. The project, promoted by the CZFB and Leitat, is expected to become a pole of innovation and talent in which companies from all over the world, both suppliers and demanders of technology, will be able to establish themselves to develop their 4.0 production, making Barcelona a benchmark for the new economy.

Pere Navarro has taken the opportunity to present to the consul the second edition of BNEW (Barcelona New Economy Week). The event, which will be held from October 5 to 8, this year will double the topics covered with respect to its first edition. In this way, apart from the 2020 topics (Logistics, Digital Industry, Ecommerce, Economic Zones and Real Estate) five new areas of a more transversal nature will sum up: Mobility, Sustainability, Talent, Science and City.

 

“To receive the visit of the Consul General of Qatar, a State with an economy in full transformation, confirms that the CZFB is an player of great relevance for the international projection of the new economy and also of the metropolitan area of Barcelona”,  stated Pere Navarro,  special delegate of the State in the Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona, who also appreciated the consul’s  visit the to the facilities.

Within the framework of the entity’s international agenda, last March the CZFB also received a visit from the French Consul General, Olivier Ramadour, in addition to visits from the United States Consul General, Robert Riley, in October, and the Consul General of the United Arab Emirates, Majid Alfalasi, last November, facts that confirm the interest that the CZFB at an international level with its commitment to innovative projects.
