Near: Reducing empty trips and emission

In this episode of Logistics 4.0, we have the pleasure of talking with Lorena Rubio and Juan Calderón, co-founders of NEAR, an innovative platform that seeks to solve one of the biggest problems in logistics: empty routes. With around 80 million unloaded trips per year in Spain, this challenge not only represents economic losses for transporters, but also a significant environmental impact.

Lorena and Juan tell us how NEAR connects carriers that return without load with companies that need to send goods on those same routes, thus optimizing operations through artificial intelligence and reducing carbon emissions. During our talk, we explored the process behind this platform, from its practical operation to the importance of artificial intelligence in route optimization.

Additionally, we discuss the role of the Logistics 4.0 Incubator in the growth of NEAR and how this ecosystem has provided visibility and opportunities for collaboration with other entrepreneurs in the sector. Lorena and Juan share their ambitious vision for the future of NEAR, including their desire to expand internationally and become a standard tool in logistics.
