Boosting the visibility of female talent in male-dominated sectors

19 de February de 2025

Women who take on roles in the automotive, technology or engineering sectors, whether in leadership positions or at any other level, break glass ceilings and become role models. And with this, they promote more profitable and innovative work environments. We see it in companies with a scientific and technological DNA, where the presence of women is growing, and in boards of directors with more women.

More and more companies see gender equality as a decisive advantage. Let’s look at examples of companies that are transforming their organizational culture and giving more visibility to women in historically male sectors.

  • Automotive: Stellantis, the automotive group that encompasses brands such as Peugeot, Citroën, Fiat and Jeep, has boosted diversity with specific programs and key appointments, such as Christine Feuell, CEO of Chrysler. In 2022, 27% of leadership positions were held by women, with the goal of reaching 35% by 2030. The objective is clear: that decision-making and the future of the sector are more diverse.
  • Technology and engineering: Siemens promotes gender equality with development initiatives for women in STEM, aware that equity enhances creativity and innovation, true engines of growth in a leading technology company. Currently, women hold 32.5 per cent of senior management positions and 45 per cent of the supervisory board.
  • Energy: in a traditionally masculinized sector, Repsol has taken concrete steps to increase the presence of women in leadership positions. With mentoring and internal promotion programs, it has managed to ensure that 30% of its management positions are occupied by women.
  • Telecommunications: at Telefónica, 32.8% of management positions are held by female executives. And 38.7% of the entire workforce are women. To further promote female leadership, the company has developed training and professional support programs.

When women reach leadership positions, they send a clear message to the new generations: automotive, technology or energy are not the exclusive territories of men. For too long, the lack of role models has been an invisible barrier. Now, thanks to these examples, that perception is changing.

Talent has no gender, but the more women work in these sectors, the more innovative and competitive their companies will be. That’s why visibility is key: it inspires new careers and accelerates change.
