Biomedical, AENA and the Logistics Incubator 4.0 receive the award for the Best Innovation of the SIL 2023

- Pere Navarro, President of the SIL, and Blanca Sorigué, General Director of the SIL, delivered the SIL 2023 awards for the Best Innovation to the main innovations that will revolutionize the sector
- The fair has consolidated its commitment to gender equality with Women in Logistics, an event where more than 50 women managers from the sector shared their experiences to boost the logistics and transport sector
- The CZFB and the Luanda-Bengo Special Economic Zone (Angola) have signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), an alliance linking the two strategic economic zones
Barcelona, 8 June 2023. – After a successful start, the new edition of the International Logistics Exhibition (SIL), promoted by the Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona (CZFB), held its second day at the Fira de Barcelona Montjuïc exhibition centre with numerous of experts who shared their knowledge and experience with all those attending about the different sectors that are part of the supply chain.
In the morning, Pere Navarro, President of SIL, and Blanca Sorigué, General Director of SIL, presented the SIL awards for Best Innovation. This year, the organization has collected more than 150 novelties among all the companies participating in SIL 2023, and the jury has highlighted 27 of them, of which a total of three winners have been selected.
The award for the Best Private Innovation has gone to Farma Services Cold, from Biomedical Logistics, which was accepted by Francesc Gómez, founder and CEO of the company. It is a comprehensive service of rental of reusable isothermal passive cold packaging, which allows to optimize the handling and picking processes, refrigeration, cleaning of the packaging and storage space.
Next, Vellore Cargo Community System has been recognized as Best Innovation Promoted by a Public Institution. Powered by Aena and developed by the company Portel, it is a collaborative electronic platform, that allows the exchange of information between the members of the cargo community in the airports of the Aena network, promoting the competitiveness of the airport communities. Tomas Vázquez Gallego, head of Aena’s Air Cargo Development Division, and Ana Chamorro Hernández, of Aena’s Air Cargo Development Division, accepted the award.
Finally, the award for the Best Innovative Project went to the Logistics 4.0 Incubator, the project led by the CZFB that aims to provide services to the business, scientific and technological collective of different sectors associated with the supply chain of logistics susceptible to industry 4.0, adding technological value to both products and processes. A representation of the Logistics 4.0 Incubator companies have received the award.
The Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona also will sign an agreement today at 4pm with the Corporación Zona Franca Santiago, from Dominican Republic, to promote the economy, boost the logistics sector and the growth of Industry 4.0 in the country with joint projects.
The most International Logistics Week
The new edition of SIL’s global reach is clear in this new edition, which hosts various international congresses. Among them, it is the 39th edition of ALACAT, the largest congress of the Latin American sector, which today held interesting sessions that highlighted the importance of the region for the logistics sector, such as “Latin America in the eye of Logistics: a view from the outside”. “There are trade agreements and partnerships between Latin American countries and the European Union that include Spain, such as the Economic Partnership Agreement between the European Union and the countries of Central America, or bilateral agreements with countries such as Mexico or Chile, that facilitate trade between Catalonia and Latin America by eliminating tariff barriers and promoting economic cooperation. That is why we are here, to continue eliminating barriers”, said Pere Navarro, during his speech. In addition, panels on ” Air: Trends and Challenges in Air Cargo Transport” and “ Geostrategy in Maritime Transport” are also taking place today.
At the same time, the 19th edition of the Mediterranean Logistics and Transport Week (MedaLogistics Week) was inaugurated during this second day, with the first three sessions: “Ports and connectivity in the era of disruption”, “Towards a sustainable maritime and port industry in the Mediterranean” and “Smart ports in the Mediterranean”.
Within the context of SIL, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed today between the CZFB and the Luanda-Bengo Special Economic Zone (ZEE) in Angola, an alliance that will support activities between the two strategic economic zones, as well as explore possibilities for collaboration in international cooperation projects. The signing ceremony was attended by the Special State Delegate to the CZFB, Pere Navarro, the General Director of the CZFB, Blanca Sorigué, and the Director of the ZEE’s Intercâmbio e Negócios Office, Ricardo de Carvalho.
Women leaders shaping the future of the sector
With the aim of giving visibility to women in logistics, a traditionally male dominated sector, this morning took place Women in Logistics, a lunch where more than 50 women professionals from the sector gathered to network and share their knowledge to promote gender parity. Among the most prominent professionals are Elisabet Alsina, Manager at SEAT; Beatriz Álvarez, Supply Chain Director at Unilever; Beatriz Dalmau, Supply Chain Director at Uriach; Ana Isabel González, President of the Board of Directors of the Spanish Logistics Center; and Silvia Marín, Director of Logistics at Frit Ravich.
Six verticals for topical debates
Throughout the day, numerous content sessions were held at SIL Knowledge, with the participation of around 400 speakers, to address topical issues divided into six blocks: logistics and transport; supply chain; innovation, technology and digitalisation; ecommerce, last mile and smart mobility; and talent. Today’s sessions include “Digital corridors: success stories”, “FERRMED study on traffic optimisation and modal shift in the EU” and “Logistics and automation 4.0: use cases and future trends”.
Besides attending the numerous events scheduled as part of the fair, visitors and exhibitors at the event can access the SIL Platform Web App, which offers the possibility of networking by sending messages between attendees. Also, the platform allows to request meetings with companies and browse through all the event options. People may access the app from any device through the SIL website, using the access codes provided by the organizator.
