Barcelona, February 2021.- The Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona (CZFB) and Fundación Incyde of the Spanish Chambers of Commerce have teamed up to create Barcelona Woman Acceleration Week (BWAW), a digital event whose objective is to enhance and boost gender equality. Its aim is to help achieve full women participation and equal opportunities in the industrial sector on a local and global level. Pere Navarro, special delegate of the State at the CZFB, and Javier Collado, managing director of Fundación Incyde, have signed the collaboration agreement stating that the event will be held on March 3, 4 and 5, as part of the International Women’s Day (March 8), on the sets of RTVE in Sant Cugat del Vallès.
Pere Navarro has pointed out that “we are proud to have an ally such as Fundación Incyde to create an event that will serve as a reference to advance towards gender equality in an innovative way, overcoming the moment of reflection to start offering solutions”.
Javier Collado has highlighted that “gender equality continues to be a pending issue and we must commit ourselves to ensure that we all have access to the same opportunities without distinction or discrimination. Holding this event, together with Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona, is undoubtedly clear evidence that we are walking in the right direction ”.
The new event is aimed at a wide audience, both female and male. Its aim is to transform and “take advantage of the privileged position of the CZFB in the industrial and logistics field to act as a driving force towards gender transformation, because the productive sector can improve hand in hand with female talent”, according to Blanca Sorigué, managing director of the CZFB.
Wide variety of topics and speakers
The event is characterized by its parity nature, driven by the organizers’ conviction of the need to involve both men and women to advance towards gender equality.
For three days, BWAW will deliver 9 debate sessions with a total of 50 speakers with very diverse profiles and references from different sectors of activity. Always under the umbrella of gender equality, different topics will also be discussed, such as how to achieve a greater female presence in technical careers, the search for actions to favor the presence of women in the new economy, or the path towards progress in matters of social justice or equity, within the framework of the UN 2030 Agenda.
Commited to the Sustainable Development Goals
BWAW is part of the Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona’s global strategy to implement the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals in the industrial and business sphere. In this sense, the entity’s goal has been to promote a meeting focused on objective number 5, gender equality.
The Council of Women at the Zona Franca area will also collaborate with the event. This Council is the first of this kind in the industrial field, and its creation was promoted by the CZFB and was established in September 2020 together with seven other companies from the area with the aim of working towards gender equality in the productive area of the economy.
