Huawei will support DFactory in the research of new technologies and Artificial Intelligence

  • DFactory and the technology multinational want to support and promote the growth of an ecosystem where small, medium and large companies share space and knowledge for the development of collaborative R&D projects.
  • Vicente Zhong, General Manager of Huawei Spain, Jay Liu, General Manager in Catalonia of Huawei Spain, and Jorge Hernández, Public Affairs Manager of Huawei Spain, visited DFactory Barcelona this morning where they were received by Pere Navarro, special delegate of the State in the Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona and president of DFactory.

 

 

Barcelona, 28th of July de 2021. – DFactory, who will open in a few months its first 17,000m2 building, aims to create an ecosystem to drive the promotion and development of 4.0 Industry in Southern Europe. The center will be a tool to transform the Spanish productive fabric and assess companies in their digital transformation process.

This morning the General Manager of Huawei Spain, Vicente Zhong, the General Manager in Catalonia of Huawei Spain, Jay Liu, and the Public Affairs Manager of Huawei Spain, Jorge Hernández, visited the first phase of DFactory Barcelona, ​​which is scheduled to open this next fall. They have been welcomed by Pere Navarro, special delegate of the State in the Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona and president of DFactory. At the meeting, Navarro stated that “at a time when artificial intelligence is beginning to form part of our daily lives, having Huawei at the DFactory will boost this field of research and establish a link with the Asian knowledge market”.

Huawei fully supports this initiative, along with other companies, and has become a technology facilitator as well as an active participant in different research and development projects that have already been launched. It has always stood out as a full supporter of new initiatives in the past that has taken part in different Spanish and European ecosystems, always proposing a strategy aimed at digitization and technological advancement. Huawei has consolidated itself in this project as one of the technology suppliers that keeps on promoting high calculation capacity up to 40 PFLOPS, that will have the IA HERMES Center of Excellence in the initial phase, and that will address its own initiatives and those of third parties in the fields of artificial intelligence applied to the digital health sector, e-mobility, smart grids among others; favoring collaborative interactions. In the words of Vicente Zhong, General Manager of Huawei Spain, “it is the company’s commitment to share our knowledge with companies and entrepreneurs in the most innovative areas, so it was clear to us that we should settle in DFactory Barcelona”.

This joining of different entities is intended to overcome any barrier found so far in Artificial Intelligence projects through ethical leadership, institutional and authorities involvement, the contributions of large multinational companies and the participation of the local industrial fabric both of Start-ups and SMEs to maximize the growth of new innovative projects and technologically advanced solutions within the opportunity offered by the resources channeled by NextGeneration EU funds focused on industrial R&D projects.
