THE LEADING EXHIBITION FOR LOGISTICS, TRANSPORT, INTRALOGISTICS AND SUPPLY CHAIN IN SOUTHERN EUROPE HAS GATHERED ALL THE INDUSTRY FOR THREE DAYS
• The massive professional attendance, the celebration of the ASAPRA Congress, the synergies created with eDelivery Barcelona Expo & Congress, the celebration of the “Nit the la Logística” (The Logistics Night) and the number of contacts made, key of the success of a very positive edition.
• The Leading Exhibition for Logistics, Transport, Intralogistics and Supply Chain in Southern Europe will celebrate its 21st edition from the 25th to the 27th of June 2019 together with the ALACAT Congress and the Free Areas World Congress.
Barcelona, 7th of June 2018. –The Leading Exhibition for Logistics, Transport, Intralogistics and Supply Chain in Southern Europe (SIL 2018) has closed its 20th edition with 650 participating companies, a 40% of which were international and came from 41 different countries. SIL 2018 has gathered in three intense days all the sector in the logistics chain. Jordi Cornet, Special Delegate of the State at the Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona and President of SIL, has pointed out that “we have celebrated a great SIL edition with 650 participating companies, a 40% of internationalization, a 10% more of professional visitors, many quality contacts have been made and the exhibiting companies have professed their total satisfaction because they have made business. This year we have celebrated our 20th anniversary with very high qualifications and the celebration of the ASAPRA Congress has allowed us to count with the participation of world leaders in the electronic commerce sector and with the main international customs brokers”. In this sense, Mr. Cornet has added that “we are very satisfied with the quantity and level of the professional visitors that have come to SIL’s present edition because they have surpassed all our expectations with more visitors each day with respect to last year -30, 231 visits and more than 18,300 single visitors-. We have talked to many exhibitors that have confirmed us that these days they have made business deals and have closed good operations. SIL has been the platform chosen by the companies in the industry to present more than 150 novelties that will stir up the supply chain., a very important fact in an extremely competitive industry as the logistics one is.”
Once more, SIL has consolidated its leading position in Spain and Southern Europe and has positioned itself as the leading Exhibition in Europe for business and contacts between the Mediterranean and Latin America.

21st SIL BARCELONA CONGRESS
The SIL President, Jordi Cornet, has stated that “SIL has reaffirmed itself as the meeting point for the business deals between the Mediterranean Sea and Latin America with the celebration of the 16th Logistics and Transport Mediterranean Forum, the 11th Mediterranean Ports Summit. At the same time, we have celebrated the largest conference program in the industry, with 27 sessions and more than 220 speakers of international prestige, with more than 3,200 professional visitors”. This fact reaffirms the SIL’s role as the industry’s meeting and debate point.

OPENING
The Opening was chaired by the Secretary of Infrastructures and Mobility of the Government of Catalonia, Ricard Font, together with the Secretary of Housing, Public Works and Land of the Government of Valencia – the SIL 2018 Guest Autonomous Community-, Josep Vicent Boira, the Commissioner of Economic Development, Company and Innovation of the City of Barcelona, Lluís Gómez, the Acting Special Delegate of the State at the Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona and Acting President of SIL, Jordi Cornet, the President of ASAPRA, Pedro Castro, the President of the Council of the World Customs Organization, Enrique Canon, y SIL, the Managing Director of the Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona and Managing Director of SIL Blanca Sorigué, and Presidents, CEOs and Managing Directors of outstanding companies in the sector. The SIL Opening took place last 5th of June at the Montjuic-Plaza de España venue, in Fira de Barcelona.

This year, SIL has fulfilled one of its main goals: to be the International Exhibition of reference that comprehends all the supply chain sectors in the South of Europe, carrying out a clear bet on business deals, networking and knowledge. The wide business and institutional representation from Spain and abroad domestic as well as international in this 20th edition has been a key point to reaffirm SIL as a true Know-How and business space of world reference.
The 20th edition of the Leading Exhibition for Logistics, Transport, Intralogistics and Supply Chain in Southern Europe has also been one of the largest spaces dedicated to the commercial interchange and knowledge with a greater turnover than last year.
SIL 2018 has put at the exhibiting companies and the visitors’ disposal a sectorized exhibition where the different ambits related to logistics management have been represented:

SIL 2018 ha counted with the celebration of the ASAPRA Congress (Congreso de la Asociación Internacional de Agentes Profesionales de Aduanas) (ASAPRA) that has gathered 300 international companies in the international commerce and customs sector. For the first time in its 36 years of history, the ASAPRA Congress has taken place in Europe and has done so as part of SIL.
More than 3,200 professionals have attended as congressmen the different SIL 2018 Congress Sessions that have endorsed the new SIL proposal to spread the knowledge of the different logistics areas. 27 sessions have been delivered in this edition as part of the largest international Logistics Congress in Europe.
It’s been many companies and institutions that have entrusted the Leading Exhibition for Logistics, Transport, Intralogistics and Supply Chain in Southern Europe. And this year has not been for less. 31 great companies and institutions have become official sponsors of the SIL 2018 conferences.
SIL 2018 hosted the “Nit de la Logística“ (Logistics Night) that was chaired by Damiá Calvet, Minister of Land and Sustainability of the Government of Catalonia
The “Nit de la Logística” delivered the SIL Awards to logistics efficiency and technological innovation (Zara – Inditex), and to the largest digitalization in the supply chain (Ford España). Also, it delivered the Awards to the Best Innovation presented at the exhibition that was granted to Linde Material Handling Ibérica, for Linde Robótics, and CMA CGM Ibérica, for the Aquaviva container.
The SIL Barcelona 4.0 Zone at SIL 2018 has brought closer all the Exhibition visitors to the latest trends in the industry’s innovation applied to 4.0 logistic projects.
LOGISTIC CIRCLE
The SIL Logistic Circle has already 1,087 directors of logistics and Supply Chain of outstanding companies as diverse as food and great consumption, car industry, metallurgy and iron and steel industry, pharma and health, chemical and textile.
242 directors of Logistics and Supply Chain have participated at the Speed Dating and Networking Lunch of the Logistics Circle and have made more than 3,500 direct meetings with other logistics directors and with companies participating at the Exhibition.
SIL has managed more than 2,200 applications for commercial interviews among the professional visitors and exhibition participating companies.
The SIL 2019 dates
Jordi Cornet, President of SIL, has announced that the 21st SIL Barcelona edition will be held on June 25th-27th, 2019 at the Montjuic Montjuic-Plaza España venue, at Fira de Barcelona. Cornet has assured that “SIL 2019 will live one of its most international editions in history turning Barcelona into the logistics world capital, since it will hold in parallel the World Free Trades Congress, that will gather more than 1,000 professionals from all over the world, and the largest Congress of Logistic Operators in Latin America, the ASAPRA Congress”.
Lastly, the President of SIL, Jordi Cornet, has wanted to “thank all the Authorities, national and international associations that collaborate with the Exhibition, speakers, sponsors, national and international participants, visitors and media, and the city of Barcelona for its collaboration and enthusiastic participation that has made possible the success of this 20th Anniversary of SIL Barcelona.” Once again, SIL has reaffirmed itself as the leading exhibition in Spain, the Mediterranean and the South of Europe”.
