Barcelona, December 21, 2023.- The High Technology Incubator in Logistics 4.0, promoted by the Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona (CZFB), has been recognized as the most innovative project in the celebration of the 3rd edition of the Catalonia La Razón Awards. The special delegate of the State in the CZFB, Pere Navarro attended the awards ceremony that took place yesterday at the headquarters of Foment del Treball Nacional in Barcelona.

The Logistics 4.0 Incubator is the first incubator in Spain dedicated to Industry 4.0 in the field of the logistics sector’s value chain. The project, supported by the Incyde Foundation and the European FEDER Funds, was born with the aim of providing services to the business, scientific and technological collective of different sectors associated with the logistics value chain susceptible to industry 4.0, adding technological value to both products and processes.

This incubation program has different focuses on emerging technologies within logistics 4.0, such as 3D printing, robotics and automated warehouses to optimize processes, the Internet of Things (IoT), Big Data to turn data into business insights, the last mile (a key element in e-commerce); as well as Artificial Intelligence (AI) or green logistics.

The award recognises the work and approach of the Logistics 4.0 Incubator to boost the productive fabric, increase economic impact and develop greater digital competences, both in skills and knowledge, to consolidate the logistics hub. The special delegate of the State in the CZFB, Pere Navarro, had words of gratitude and stressed that “this award is a stimulus to continue promoting the business and economic fabric, encouraging specialized talent and promoting new technologies throughout the logistics value chain. The Logistics 4.0 Incubator is essential to continue developing a sector as essential as logistics.” 

Results of the Logistics 4.0 activity

This December, the results of the activity and milestones achieved by Logistics 4.0 were presented at DFactory Barcelona – the industry 4.0 ecosystem of reference worldwide and promoted by the CZFB. In just half a year of activity, the 29 incubated startups have raised 13.6 million euros, hired 55 people in their teams and closed 324 new clients.

At the same time, they have received 46 regional and state recognitions and awards and have opened their doors to 1,000 visits from companies and entities in the sector and from the country’s economic and industrial territory. For her part, Blanca Sorigué, general director in the CZFB, said, in reference to the good results, that “in a world increasingly driven by digitalization and innovation, it is crucial to lead initiatives that not only keep pace with progress, but also mark the path to the future. The excellent results are the result of a strong public-private partnership that has created, and will continue to create, new opportunities for society as a whole.”

The 3rd edition of the Catalonia La Razón Awards distinguishes multiple organizations in the autonomous community in their efforts to improve the economy and employment. The entities that have also received an award have been: AGBAR, Murprotec, Laminar Pharma, Grup Lantus, Policlínica Comarcal del Vendrell, Ivascular, Vesta Rehabilitación, Romaco Telepharm, SCS-Culleré i Sala, Multitrade Spain, Kompan, Lightsound Group, IMA Dairy & Food Intecma, Blue Carbon Ocean, Varador 2000, Boehringer Ingelheim and Opinometre.
