22@Network joins the DFactory community

Barcelona’s business district association joins the drive to create a 4.0 industry ecosystem in Barcelona

 The DFactory association keeps on gaining collaborators and has just signed a collaboration agreement with 22@Network business association to promote the Technology Hub in order to create an innovation ecosystem that will place Barcelona as a pole of attraction for 4.0 industry in the South of Europe.

The agreement establishes both entities’ commitment to create an appropriate environment for the development of companies in the industrial and technological sector. This will boost the city’s appeal for local and international investment and will connect talent with companies. Both entities commit themselves to establish different collaboration agreements with projects or initiatives related to innovation, technology transfer, entrepreneurs, start-ups, consolidated companies, investors, incubators and accelerators; as well as the development of living lab projects, among others.

22 @ Network is the technological reference in Barcelona that represents more than 200 companies and 45,000 workers. With the signing of this agreement, the incubation and growth of new technological / industrial-based projects is ensured.

Its objective is to expand strategic alliances with the main organization to accelerate the technological ecosystem in the region. This first local impulse is part of the strategy of alliances that will expand its international borders after the summer, taking advantage of the Barcelona New Economy Week (BNEW).

The agreement has been signed by Pere Navarro, special delegate of the State at the Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona (CZFB) and president of DFactory have participated in the signing of the agreement; and Enric Urreta, President of the 22@Barcelona Association of Companies and Institutions (22@Network).

About DFactory

DFactory is a private non-profit association promoted by the alliance between the CZFB and Leitat (Tecnio). It’s mission is to become the Technology Hub for the promotion and development of 4.0 Industry in Europe, promoting an ecosystem of attraction of talent, technology and investments in a unique space that gathers the most innovating companies with the most cutting-edge technological projects.

The works of this industrial warehouse that will be located at the Zona Franca of Barcelona are already underway. The first phase of the project will be finished at the end of 2020 with a 17,000 square meters’ building that will have offices, laboratories equipped with the latest technology and incubation spaces to attract innovating companies, talent and investment linked to the promotion and development of 4.0 technologies. The second phase is expected to include an expansion of 100,000 square meters.
