Barcelona, June 16, 2026.- ANYbotics, a global leader in AI-powered robotic inspection solutions, today announced the opening of its new office at DFactory Barcelona. The new engineering and artificial intelligence hub in Barcelona will be the company’s third global location, alongside Zurich and San Francisco, and will help meet the growing demand for its autonomous inspection solutions in asset- and process-intensive industrial sectors. This expansion follows a period of strong growth for ANYbotics, at a time when companies in the oil, energy and gas, chemicals, metals, and process industries in general are moving from pilot projects to large-scale deployments of its autonomous inspection robots. As the market matures, ANYbotics is expanding its presence and engineering teams to support and scale its global deployments.
“We are building a global company commensurate with a global opportunity,” said Péter Fankhauser, co-founder and CEO of ANYbotics. He added that “Barcelona offers us access to outstanding engineering talent, in a city that is rapidly becoming a key hub for robotics and industrial engineering talent.”
The new ANYbotics team in Barcelona will focus on key technical disciplines such as computer vision and machine learning, backend and frontend software engineering, mechatronics, and DevOps. As the hub grows, the company plans to further strengthen the team by integrating additional supply chain functions and other essential business areas.
“The Barcelona team will work on computer vision, machine learning, and key software systems that directly define what our robots can do,” explained Andrea Corda, CTO of ANYbotics. “These are complex challenges, and our location at DFactory Barcelona places us at the heart of an Industry 4.0 ecosystem, giving us access to professionals, research groups, and companies that are addressing them,” Corda added.
For his part, Pere Navarro, executive chairman of the CZFB, stated that “the addition of ANYbotics to the DFactory Barcelona ecosystem reinforces our commitment to a safer, smarter and more efficient industry. Its autonomous mobile robotics technology, applied to industrial inspection in complex environments, represents a clear advancement in operational safety and data management. Having solutions that integrate robotics, computer vision and artificial intelligence helps us drive the digital transformation of the most demanding industrial sectors.”
Blanca Sorigué, general manager of the CZFB, explained that ANYbotics’ decision to choose DFactory Barcelona “reaffirms the value of our Industry 4.0 ecosystem, which is specialized and focused on applied innovation. Here, talent, partners, and infrastructure come together to enable the creation of high-level engineering teams and to accelerate R&D in real-world environments. Their addition strengthens collaboration with the existing industrial and robotics ecosystem and consolidates DFactory as a space where technology is transformed into industrial impact.”
Barcelona & Partners, the investment attraction and strategic projects agency of Barcelona Global, has supported ANYbotics throughout the process of selecting Barcelona as the location for its new engineering and artificial intelligence hub. The city was chosen for its ability to attract international talent, the presence of a well-established ecosystem in robotics, artificial intelligence and Industry 4.0, its strong industrial tradition, and leading infrastructures such as DFactory Barcelona.
In this regard, Ramon Agenjo, president of Barcelona Global, highlighted that ANYbotics’ decision confirms the city’s positioning as “one of Europe’s leading hubs for robotics, artificial intelligence and advanced engineering,” and added that projects like this “are key to strengthening Barcelona’s competitiveness, generating highly skilled employment, and consolidating the city as a leading destination for international investment. This is the type of company we want to attract to Barcelona and that reflects the strength of our advanced technology ecosystem.”
The addition of ANYbotics reinforces DFactory Barcelona’s international positioning as a leading ecosystem for technology companies driving the digital transformation of industry to make it safer, more resilient and more competitive. Currently, DFactory Barcelona already hosts more than 40 companies and has reached full occupancy. The Barcelona ecosystem has already begun its expansion works, which will allow it to grow from its current 17,000 m² of space to 60,000 m², with the construction of four new buildings. The first buildings of this expansion are expected to be completed by the end of next year, with new companies set to move in at the beginning of 2027.
