Ibercaja reaffirms its support for BNEW as a sponsor of the sustainability vertical

• The agreement was reached during a meeting that took place this morning at Mobility City in Zaragoza, the avant-garde space designed by Zaha Hadid and promoted by the Ibercaja Foundation as a benchmark for the debate and dissemination of the sustainable mobility of the future.

• The Barcelona New Economy Week (BNEW) will connect 7 global events, which will address seven different verticals (Health, Digital Industry, Talent, Sustainability, Mobility, Aviation and Experience) in one of the most unique buildings in the city, DFactory Barcelona.

Barcelona, 9 July 2024. – The Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona (CZFB) has signed an agreement with Ibercaja whereby the Bank will be a BEARTH sponsor of the sustainability vertical of the fifth edition of BNEW (Barcelona New Economy Week), which will take place from 7 to 10 October at DFactory Barcelona. The agreement was reached this morning during a meeting that took place at Mobility City in Zaragoza, the avant-garde space designed by Zaha Hadid and promoted by the Ibercaja Foundation as a benchmark for the debate and dissemination of the sustainable mobility of the future.

Ibercaja was represented at this meeting by the territorial director of Arco Mediterráneo, Myriam Santos-Morán Torrens; the general director and director of the Business Banking Area, Teresa Fernández; the head of institutions of Arco Mediterráneo, José María Santos; and the head of Mobility City, Jaime Armengol. On behalf of the CZFB, attended the special delegate of the State in the CZFB, Pere Navarro, and the general director of the entity, Blanca Sorigué.

During the meeting, collaboration between Mobility City and DFactory Barcelona was also explored, as an international benchmark ecosystem for industry 4.0 promoted by the CZFB.

The special delegate of the State in the CZFB, Pere Navarro, expressed her satisfaction with this agreement and assured that “we are delighted to once again have the support of Ibercaja, an entity committed to the 2030 Agenda and focused on the opportunities offered by new technologies, aspects that have been and will continue to be present at the Barcelona New Economy Week as a meeting point and dialogue of the new economy”.

In the same way the general director of the CZFB, Blanca Sorigué, explained that “BNEW is a totally innovative and disruptive event that in just five editions has become the great event for the promotion of the new economy. This year we will have specific verticals dedicated to the digital industry, health, talent, sustainability, aviation and mobility sector, in addition to the experiential activities that make it a unique event with the seal of the Barcelona brand”.

For her part, Myriam Santos-Morán Torrens stressed that, after the great impact of the last edition, Ibercaja renews its participation in this meeting as a sign of its firm commitment to sustainability, for which the entity accompanies companies by facilitating their progress in the necessary transition towards a more sustainable business model. “The role of the financial sector is essential to channel capital flows towards sustainable projects and investments,” stresses the territorial director of Ibercaja.

The fifth edition of BNEW will feature three sets and seven transcendental sectors for the new economy – two for each set – some of which have already been represented since the start of the event in 2020. More specifically, the seven themes for 2024 will be: Health, Digital Industry, Talent, Sustainability, Mobility, Aviation and Experience. In addition, it will also have inspirational sessions with the aim of helping the attending professionals and entrepreneurs to grow with efficiency in business values.
