The 2024 Company of the Year Awards distinguish PICVISA with the Industry 4.0 Prize

Barcelona, March 19, 2024.- PICVISA, an innovative company that designs, develops and produces sorting equipment for recoverable materials, has been distinguished with the industry 4.0 Prize within the framework of the 2024 Company of the Year Awards. The awards were presented by El Periódico de Catalunya with the collaboration of Banco de Sabadell at a gala held last night at the Casa Llotja de Mar in Barcelona.
PICVISA is an innovative technology-based company that offers solutions based on robotics, artificial intelligence and artificial vision aimed at the national and international market. Your teams can select and classify materials by composition, shape, and/or color according to their developed software. The company has expanded its services by developing new products and adapting to new technologies, and currently offers optical waste separation services, robotics, artificial intelligence and deep learning solutions to all its customers.
Joan Manel Casamitjana, CEO of PICVISA, was in charge of receiving the award that was presented to him by the special delegate of the State in the Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona, Pere Navarro. Just 4 months ago, in December 2023, PICVISA became the first company in the automatic waste sorting sector to obtain B Corp certification, which endorses its commitment to the environment and business transparency.
The ecosystem in DFactory Barcelona
Since November 2021, PICVISA has been part of DFactory Barcelona, the world’s largest leading industry 4.0 technology hub promoted by the Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona. The technology hub favours the collaboration of projects between multinationals, local companies and startups that coexist in the building to generate joint technology and new business models.
Pere Navarro, special delegate of the State in the CZFB, wanted to highlight at the time of the presentation of the industry 4.0 Prize that “PICVISA is a clear example of technological innovation, disruption of new technologies and creation of specialized talent. Each and every one of the companies belonging to DFactory Barcelona help us to continue promoting the promotion and development of Industry 4.0 and at the same time promote the attraction of talent, technology and investments in a shared space, at the forefront of technology”.
DFactory Barcelona currently has facilities of 17.000 square metres on four floors with open, diaphanous and digital spaces, where more than 30 companies have already set up shop and in which more than 500 people work, figures that translate into 85% of the total occupancy of the building.
The 2024 Company of the Year Awards also recognized Aigües de Barcelona (Company of the Year), Marco Sansavini (Entrepreneur of the Year), Moventia (Family), Do Good (Inclusive), Peptomyc (Innovative), Soler & Palau (International) and 011h (Sustainable).
