Barcelona, July 18, 2024.- The Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona (CZFB) has signed an agreement with BBVA through which the bank will once again be a BEARTH sponsor. On this occasion, the Talent vertical of the new edition of Barcelona New Economy Week (BNEW) will be held from 7 to 10 October 2024. This agreement represents BBVA’s commitment to the benchmark event for the new economy in Spain, which last year was consolidated as such with the participation of 1.500 participating startups and an international collaboration of 30% with visitors from 103 countries.

The signing ceremony, which took place today at the DFactory Barcelona facilities, was attended by Francisco Pla, BBVA’s regional director in Catalonia and Blanca Sorigué, general director of the CZFB and BNEW.

Francisco Pla, BBVA’s regional director in Catalonia, stressed that “at BBVA, in addition to innovation, we consider talent to be key to the business growth strategy and the move towards a new economy. Catalonia has always been an epicenter of innovation and talent attraction, and at BBVA we are clear that the best way to accompany our customers and society in general is to bet on the best and most qualified talent, with a model that allows people to grow professionally and personally based on meritocracy and in an environment of trust and empowerment.”

For his part, Pere Navarro, special delegate of the State at the CZFB, thanked BBVA for its commitment, once again, to BNEW: “It is a pleasure to have BBVA again in the next edition of the Barcelona New Economy Week, a disruptive and hybrid event that brings together the main sectors of activity to promote the new economy. We are very fortunate to have partners who help us to project events like this, to discuss and present the challenges, trends and new solutions offered by new technologies in the various economic sectors”.

Finally, Blanca Sorigué, general director of the CZFB has assured that “BNEW is an event that catalyzes new opportunities and a beacon of knowledge of the economic sectors where new technologies are playing a fundamental role in promoting, redefining and transforming their solutions and innovations both by the companies in the sector themselves and society in general. And having partners who help us generate new synergies is always welcome”.

New vertical, more themes and experiences

The fifth edition of BNEW will feature three sets and seven transcendental sectors for the new economy, some of which have already been represented since the start of the event in 2020. The seven themes of the 2024 edition will be Health, Digital Industry, Talent, Sustainability, Mobility, Experience and Aviation. This audiovisual and hybrid format allows professionals from different economic sectors, industries, small and medium-sized enterprises, large corporations, administrations and institutions and startups to be reached at the same time.

After the success of the last edition, BNEW 2024 repeats the stage in the emblematic DFactory Barcelona building, the industry 4.0 technological ecosystem of international reference promoted by the Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona, which brings together in its 17,000 m2, companies, large corporations, and startups that work with new technologies. In its open, diaphanous and digital spaces, solutions and projects based on 3D printing, Blockchain, Big Data, augmented reality, sensor technology, Cloud Computing, Internet of Things and robotics are promoted. The celebration of the BNEW in this space located in the Zona Franca allows Barcelona to be projected as the capital of the new economy.

BNEW 2024 will continue with the essence of connecting the various sectors under the common denominator of the new economy, sharing knowledge between both national and international top speakers, and generating quality networking among all participants on the event’s powerful digital platform and through artificial intelligence.
