DFactory Barcelona obtains WELL Gold certification

• This certification, with a dynamic scoring system for buildings and communities, allows for the identification, measurement, and monitoring of the characteristics of built spaces that impact the health and well-being of the occupants.

• The world-renowned Industry 4.0 ecosystem driven by the Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona also demonstrates its leadership in transforming health and well-being in the spaces where we spend our time.

Barcelona, 18 December 2024.- DFactory Barcelona, the internationally renowned Industry 4.0 ecosystem driven by the Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona, has just obtained the WELL Gold certification, which attests that the various spaces within the building impact the health and well-being of its occupants. The WELL Gold certification from the Green Business Certification is a dynamic scoring system for buildings and communities that allows for the identification, measurement, and monitoring of the characteristics of built spaces that impact the health and well-being of both workers and visitors to the building.

This certification evaluates and measures aspects such as air quality, the promotion of hydration and healthy nutrition, the level of lighting and the integration of natural and artificial light in the project, the encouragement of physical activity and an active lifestyle, thermal and sound comfort, the use of construction materials free of pollutants, the stimulation of policies that support emotional and cognitive health, and the fostering of an inclusive and integrated community through social justice, civic engagement, and stable design.

The state special delegate in the CZFB, Pere Navarro, has given a very positive evaluation of this new milestone and highlighted that “DFactory Barcelona has always been conceived with a clear social commitment, promoting a collaborative, friendly work environment where it is pleasant to work because it is the best way to develop good initiatives and multiply results. The well-being and health of the people who work within this building and those who visit us, respect for the environment and sustainability, are fundamental pillars of DFactory, which has always been aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations Agenda 2030. It is a great pride to receive an accreditation that perfectly reflects this commitment, such as the WELL Gold certificate”.

An Industry 4.0 reference

 DFactory Barcelona has become an internationally renowned Industry 4.0 ecosystem with the presence of 35 multinational, medium, and small companies and research centers that develop pioneering projects in the fields of robotics, sensors, 3D printing, cybersecurity, augmented and virtual reality, artificial intelligence, Blockchain, and nanotechnology. It has facilities of 17.000 m2 that promote open and collaborative innovation among companies, which develop projects and solve challenges together. The Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona is working on the second phase of the DFactory Barcelona execution, an impetus that will allow it to reach another 72.000 m2 in the coming years. It is expected that a total of 1.500 people will work directly and 5.000 indirectly. In addition to the WELL Gold certification, DFactory Barcelona also holds the Leed Gold certification from the US Green Building Council, which recognizes the design, construction, maintenance, and operation of high-performance energy and sustainable buildings.
