EIT Urban Mobility has joined BNEW

- The Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona has signed a collaboration agreement with EIT Urban Mobility this morning by which it will join the second edition of BNEW as a collaborating entity.

- The collaboration agreement has been signed by the special delegate of the State in the Consorci de la Zona Franca, Pere Navarro, and Daniel Serra, director of the Innovation Hub South.
Barcelona, 3 June 2021 – The Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona (CZFB) and EIT Urban Mobility, the European Institute of Innovation and Urban Mobility Technology, have signed a collaboration agreement for the next edition of the Barcelona New Economy Week (BNEW), which will take place from October 5 to 8. By this agreement, the organization has joined the new edition of the event. as a collaborating entity. EIT Urban Mobility is an initiative of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), a body belonging to the European Union. It will contribute with its experience in mobility and will play a prominent role in BNEW Mobility, one of the new areas in the second edition of this event aimed at boosting the economy’s reactivation.
The signing ceremony took place at the CZFB offices and was attended by Daniel Serra, director of the Innovation Hub South, and Pere Navarro, special delegate of the State in the Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona and president of BNEW.
Pere Navarro pointed out that “we seek to add up highly specialized partners to the new BNEW areas so that they can contribute in each subject with expert knowledge to analyze the latest trends and identify opportunities that will advance towards a social transformation. BNEW is going to be the great economic event of the year and, together with our partners, we will bring together the most recognized experts in each field”.
Daniel Serra stressed that “the main objective of EIT Urban Mobility is to accelerate our cities’ transformation process so that they are more sustainable and better places to live in. One of the key factors to achieve this is that all the public-private agents involved collaborate with each other; the other is to promote innovation and identify new business models and solutions. EIT Urban Mobility is delighted to collaborate with BNEW to discover the new opportunities that the mobility of the future will offer us.”

With a completely innovative, 100% professional and hybrid B2B format, the great economic event has expanded its program up to ten thematic areas: Mobility, Sustainability, Talent, Science and City, as a novelty, together with Logistics, Digital Industry, Ecommerce, Economic Zones and Real Estate, already present in the first edition. In turn, the CZFB also plans to expand the number of speakers and go from 389 to 700 in this new edition.
BNEW Mobility will address the future of mobility and new trends. It will talk about micromobility (regulation and integration policies with public transport), e-Mobility as a 2030 objective, the challenges of the air sector, sustainable mobility (and the new Sustainable Mobility Law), smart roads and other innovations such as hyperloop, among others.
The second edition of BNEW will continue to promote internationalization as a key element and generate business deals through 100% virtual networking that uses artificial intelligence, matching interests and directly connecting supply and demand. Likewise, at the BVillage space, participating companies will be able to make presentations of their products or services via videoconference, as well as interact with the attendees. The organization is expecting to increase the number of companies present in this area from 128 to 400 in this new edition.
The first edition attracted 10,861 participants, from 111 different countries, 90% of which attended online.
