  • Details of the strategic plan for the years to come were announced at a plenary session. The plan entails three strategic areas and nine lines of activity, implementing 29 preliminary projects.

Barcelona, 17 December 2019. Today, the Plenary Council of the Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona (CZFB), chaired by the city mayor Ada Colau, approved the budget for 2020 with profits expected to reach €8.2 million and an investment budget of €20.4.

The public organisation, whose CEO and chairman is special state delegate Pere Navarro, expects net turnover to increase by 5% over the next year to €51 million and to undertake investments in assets and real estate.

Investments in CZFB asset maintenance and modernisation are planned for 2020, as well as commitments to new projects. One notable example of this is the DFactory project, in which CZFB has already made investments, the initial phase of which will require €17 million. This same strategic line consists of two phases (one which will kick off in June 2020 with 17,000 m2 of floor space, and a second which will extend this to 90,000 m2 which is scheduled for 2021). All this was presented by Pere Navarro at the institutional plenary meeting.

The CZFB CEO also talked about the organisation’s strategic plan for the years to come, which focuses on three areas: the CZFB’s long-term economic sustainability, social impact on the territory and urban integration and environmental sustainability. The CZFB has defined a total of 29 preliminary projects to cover nine specific targeted lines within the three areas that make up its strategic plan.

Continuing with the transformation process initiated in 2019, the CZFB has also announced its intention to carry out several sustainability and mobility actions on the industrial estate in 2020 with a view to driving the industrial area toward compliance with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) set for 2030.
