DFactory Barcelona receives the innovation award from the Brazil-Catalonia Chamber of Commerce

  • DFactory Barcelona, the internationally renowned industry 4.0 ecosystem promoted by the Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona (CZFB), has been recognized with the Innovation Award for Public Management by the Brazil-Catalonia Chamber of Commerce.

 

  • Pere Navarro, special delegate of the State at the CZFB, received the award in recognition of DFactory Barcelona’s contribution to economic recovery and its commitment to technological innovation.

 

Barcelona, June 28, 2024.- DFactory Barcelona, the internationally renowned industry 4.0 ecosystem promoted by the Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona (CZFB) was awarded the Innovation Award for Public Management by the Brazil-Catalonia Chamber of Commerce last night, during a summer dinner held at the Grand Marina Hotel in Barcelona.

The special delegate of the State in the CZFB, Pere Navarro, accompanied by the general director of the CZFB, Blanca Sorigué, oversaw receiving this award that recognizes the trajectory of this business ecosystem located in the Zona Franca of Barcelona, which promotes the creation of synergies between all economic agents, both business and professional, which meet in the disruptive building with the aim of developing innovation projects and new technologies based on industry 4.0. The institutional act was attended by Pedro Henriquez Lopes Borio, Consul General of Brazil in Barcelona; the president of the Brazil-Catalonia Chamber of Commerce, Javier Mirallas, and the director of the entity, Vivian Feher.

DFactory Barcelona has become the leading industry 4.0 ecosystem at an international level with 32 companies installed in the sectors of artificial intelligence, robotics, 3D printing, blockchain, sensors or the Internet of Things, among others. A benchmark in the development of industry 4.0, it has facilities of up to 17.000 m2 distributed over four floors with open, diaphanous and digital spaces, and currently has an occupancy of 85%. Some of the companies are KION Group, Siemens, HP, Excelencia Tech, Stratasys, Leitat, Nexiona, Picvisa, Hubmaster, Asorcad, Zentinel, Shining 3D, SIARQ, Alisys, On Robot, SioCast, Ariño Design, Imhoit, Innovae, ICIL Lab, Dow, Girbau, e-Miles or Hamamatsu Photonics, among others.

Pere Navarro, special delegate of the State at the CZFB, stressed during the award collection that “this recognition highlights our contribution to the generation of economic opportunities and underlines the commitment and continuous collaboration with the international business community. We have a true innovation ecosystem open to the world, where synergies are created between companies from various sectors, from large corporations to small and medium-sized companies, innovation centers and laboratories”.

 For her part, Blanca Sorigué, general director of the CZFB, said that “recognizing DFactory Barcelona is also recognizing the more than 500 professionals and companies that have decided to bet and settle in the building. At the CZFB we open the doors to all those companies that promote the new economy and work to create disruptive solutions for companies and society as a whole”.

DFactory Barcelona is aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations 2030 Agenda, facilitating the digitalization of industry as a key lever for the ecological transition and promoting the circular economy through the adoption of new sustainable production systems and advanced manufacturing. Due to its relevance as a catalyst for industrial innovation, the CZFB is already working to be able to execute a second phase of the project, which will expand the facilities by nearly 80.000 m2, with an employment forecast for 1,500 people directly and 5,000 indirectly.
